Now they’re trapped behind white picket fences, mowing lawns and attending block parties, playing house while pretending they aren’t carrying secrets that could burn the world down. It’s supposed to be fake. It’s supposed to be survival.
But then Leon smiles while flipping pancakes in their too-small kitchen, Ada lounges in silk robes sipping wine at noon, and the neighbors keep calling them “such a cute couple.”

Not the gnarly, dark infection crawling up his neck and inching towards his jaw. He had that when she first met him. “But there’s something you didn't tell me,” Will says, stopping and staring at Dustin, as he sinks back into his pillow. “Something kind of crucial.” He leans forward slightly, lowering his voice even more, turning the words into a furious whisper.
“You didn’t care to tell me that he’s a… vampire.”
or; Will starts college with unexpected excitement. His roommate is funny, if a little strange. But when he ends up in the infirmary with a broken arm, asking Will to look after his pet, a damn bat, Will is pulled into a situation that is anything but ordinary.
