It’s a little surprising, at first, looking around her bare bedroom, hands outstretched, like she’s waiting for something else to materialize on the blank, white walls or stripped bed frame. Leaving London was different; she was so directionless then, drifting along in the wake of Mummy’s ire and Declan’s frisson. But Rutshire had been home.
At least for a little bit.
