Summary
There was a box made of glass.
Sometimes, fingerprints smeared the glass, making it visible to outsiders. But when those were wiped away, the box was indistinguishable from air. Maybe, if you looked at it at just the right angle, you could possibly see its glare, but most eyes just passed over it, zeroing in on who was locked inside.
Futaba had lived years inside this box, now.

All Noé could think of was Astermite glowing like stars in the night, of rewriting the laws of gravity and the funny feeling in his stomach when he did so, of how blue Vanitas’ eyes were, like the moon he once spent a midnight dancing and laughing under.
“Come here,” Noé demanded again, refusing to let go of this point.
“You are incredibly demanding for someone who depends on others as much as you do,” Vanitas chided, tone cold, and Noé internally cheered, thrilled with the acerbic response.
What Noé had learned from each inch he pushed, each time he demanded more, each question he leveled at him, meeting piercing blue eyes undaunted, was that the closer you got to Vanitas’ heart, the crueler he was.

Summary
Izuku dies in Katsuki's arms, and he becomes intimately familiar with the long shadow of regret.
He's so full of regret he wishes he could vomit it out.
Every time he hurt Deku, every moment he rejected him, every single instance he made Deku's smile fade, haunts Katsuki.
What he should've said to Deku long ago, what he never said, what even in his dying moments he held back, he says now, to the only person who'll understand, and who will never forgive him.

Katsuki now must bear the mantle of the Symbol of Peace, but the shoes left behind are too big to fill.
