What if the King did get Avery as his vessel by making a deal to save Derek if he cooperated, but something went wrong and, instead of the King taking control, they merge into a new entity...one that is a little more than a bit infatuated with a certain Lord. He stepped through the threshold, and the room on the other side was filled with nothing but the static sound of silence. He thought just for a minute, maybe he wouldn't have to deal with this obnoxious king. He'd spent so long trying to run from it, keeping Avery safe and ignoring the burning in his heart to return to these very gates. Just when the knight thought he could leave without facing the other, a familiar hum filled his mind, and blinding yellow filled the corners of his vision.
"And look what we have here…" A low voice seeped into his brain. Derek groaned at the feeling; no matter how many times it happened to him, it would always sting. It's slender yellow body materialized in front of him, an endless trail of yellow cloth following behind. Long, spindly fingers brushed over his chest plate; even through all the layers, he could still feel its touch.

"Are those final vows, little lord…" Mockery? The words are barely parsed or perhaps different people. For a moment, he thought he heard his friend's voice. He looms above D3rlord3, tall and impossible. Wrapped in golden cloth that glitters and gleams. In yellows weathered to ochre. To try and comprehend it would be mean to die trying, so d3rlord3 fixes his gaze to the floor.
"I don't… pray." D3rlord3 manages a scoff. The air quiets with his confidence. His majesty's movements are subtle, yet the ringing that follows him is indicator enough. There's a pause, quiet and assessing. What little was left of his surroundings dims beneath the suns gaze.
"Not even to me?"
