“I framed him for drug possession, I got him fired from his job, and I planted his scrotal prints on the synagogue doorknobs.”
Geoffrey made an approving nod as he dropped the queue card, revealing the next. Jake read the cards in a monotone voice, eyes glancing between Geoffrey and the words.
“I am a horrible person who has done horrible things to a truly decent man, which is why I’ve decided to take my own life.”
Jake paused, before reading the last part again. He looked back up at Geoffrey, who looked almost gleeful.
“I really don’t think I’ve decided that.”
“Oh, no, you have!” Geoffrey said, nodding his head as he placed down the queue cards, leaning them against the tripod. Jake frowned, watching as he took the camera away, clicking through to watch the video again.

Five wanted to roll his eyes. It wasn’t his debt to pay — it was quite clearly the Handler’s fault for everything. Regardless, Lila clearly didn’t want to listen to what he had to say.
“What, nothing? Don’t make this boring, you were so mouthy the last time we met.”
“You didn’t listen to me then. What use is it talking to you again when you don’t pay attention to anything I say?”
Lila scoffed, “You were talking bullshit, trying to save yourself. You’re lucky you even escaped then.”
“And here we go again. I feel like I’m already back at that farm.”

Endurance threshold?
Peter didn’t have a chance to ask as a shot of electricity shot through his body. He yelped, body tensing involuntarily at the sensation.
“Stage 1, minimum standard, completed. Performance as expected. No outstanding response.”
Peter snarled, “Minimum standard? What the hell does that mean?”
There was no response, and no warning, as the electricity flickered back on. Peter could feel static under his skin, teeth grating to stop any noise from escaping. It lasted much longer than the first shock, and he found his limbs twitching even quicker than before at the sensation. He coughed as it stopped, head feeling even more dizzy than before. He rested it against the back of the chair, taking a deep breath.

“Are you able to move?”
Jake turned to look at his arm, before snorting at the sight, “Yeah, no.”
His voice was raspy as he continued, “Arm’s stuck. What happ’ned?”
“There was an explosion, and you were caught in the crossfire. We’ve been looking, trying to track your location, and I promise you we’ll get you out of there soon. You think you can hold on a bit longer for me?”
Jake bit his cheek, relaxing his head more against the floor, before speaking, “Yeah, uh, that should be fine. I don’t really have a choice, do I?”

Aziraphale kept his face blank as he nodded. He’d expected to fall before, long before the anti-christ had existed. It was a confirmation he’d been waiting for, especially since he’d became friends with Crowley — something he believed Heaven would pick up on sooner or later.
“Do you understand the reasoning for the actions taken against you today?”
“Yes.” The answer was quick, instinctively snippy.
“Do you have anything to say before the punishment is enacted?”
Aziraphale kept his mouth shut. He had a lot on his mind to say, things he’d been bottling up for as long as he could remember. He couldn’t count the insults that threatened to form from his lips, each more vulgar that the last.

The nickname winded Peter, fist curling around his mask tighter as his eyes widened. Happy’s mouth was moving again, slowly moving closer to Peter, but all Peter could hear was white noise. Happy wasn’t supposed to know Peter’s name. He didn’t register how close Happy had gotten until a hand fell to his shoulder, making him jump and agitating his chest in the process. Arms pulled him back from the roof, Peter falling into Happy’s chest as he realised just how close he was to the edge.

Matt opened his mouth to reply, but he was cut off by the sound of a gunshot. He straightened, looking towards the doors. He strained his hearing, trying to listen for an out-of-place heartbeat, even a pained breath, but to no avail. He furrowed his eyebrows, before moving one of his hands up to his mask.
“Look, I’d love to continue this conversation, but it can wait until another time.” He slipped his hand to the bottom of the helmet, hand hovering over the button.
“Don’t you fucking dare, Red. If I come over and find you—“
