Summary
The creak of our door opening interrupts us before we can get much further, our daughter’s sweet call of “Good morning, Mommy and Daddy!” making us smile against each other. Xaden presses one last kiss against my lips before he sits up and reaches over the side of our bed to pick up our daughter.
He pulls her into his lap as he reclines against the headboard, cradling her in his arms and kissing the top of her dark curls. I still can’t believe that after everything we’ve been through, this is now our life. We get to wake up every morning in our bed, in a world that we almost died for that’s now safe enough for us to raise our daughter in.
