They were a black hole, pulling him in while he offered no resistance. There’s nothing he could do, anyways. He’s fallen so far that there’s no possible escape plan.

Summary
Sometimes it’s easy for Annabeth to forget about being forgotten.
With the sand between her toes and a book in her lap, it’s easy to see what she's been missing out on for so long. She watches as Percy summons a small wave for Matthew and Bobby, the two yelling as they body surf it back to shore. Lips tugging upwards when the wave collides and the two boys cheer and try to tackle Percy into the water.
Or, Annabeth and Percy have a not-so-pleasant dinner with her dad.

Sitting down and wrapping her arms around her knees, she watches as the gods ride the chariot round the sun as it sets. The Sound is cast in a golden, almost unnatural glow. It’s quiet, birds chirping and squirrels running and no screaming; no moans or groans of anguish as child soldiers lie dying on the woodland floor.
“Knew I’d find you here.” Voice but a whisper, he understands the mood. He’s a bit behind her, hands awkwardly in pockets as he looks anywhere but her. That dull ache pangs in her heart.

On the eve of their final semester of college their worlds get turned upside down, leaving Annabeth and Piper with a choice: take a leap of faith or risk never having the courage to fall at all.
