Summary
Full season 5 Mileven rewrite for if the Duffer's cared about their characters development. Follows my rewrite of s4, but reading part 1 is not needed to understand, just much preferred.
“We had a date tonight,” Mike kicked a jagged rock as they made their way through the trees, neither in any rush to return to class on time. “I know that that doesn’t mean jackshit compared to fighting Vecna. It's just…It’s been a year and a half. We’re thirty crawls in, and we’ve gotten nowhere. El can’t find him, Will’s mostly fine, and Max is doing her physical therapy.”
“I get it. It just might take a hundred crawls to get it over with and get that type of freedom,” Lucas muttered, crossing his arms. “You really want out of here that badly?”
“If I can get her away from Hawkins, I’d do gas station food, motels, and live out of my damn car the rest of my life if it meant she could actually have a chance. If there’s no future for her here, then there isn’t one for me either.”
Mike looked back at the boys in the distance with sorrow stained on his features. He knew what would become of this.
“I can’t see a world where staying here works out for us.”
