Summary
Evan Buckley sues the city after he is told he's not allowed to return as a firefighter because his captain - who he had viewed as a father - thinks he wasn't capable anymore.
But when he realises that the lawsuit wasn't the way to go, it's too late and he's being ignored by the whole of the 118. So when he goes to the doctors for a routine check in after all that had happened with his leg in less than a couple months and is told that there may be something much worse wrong with him - he has no one to go to. No one to lean on. No one to help.
So when it's confired that Evan 'Buck' Buckley has cancer and that was the real cause behind his pulmonary embolism, he runs.
He tells no one. He quits the 118. Leaves fire fighting behind. And decides that without his family, there's no reason to fight the cancer.

Summary
Her son’s soulmark, the one held closest to his heart, had a soft, golden glow peeking out from underneath the medical bandages. The glow seemed to become brighter, though not overpowering. Soft, comforting light. It reminded her of the sun, in a way.
As her eyes adjusted, she found she couldn’t have been more right.
Over her son’s heart spells the name Apollo, in gold cursive. The font shimmered, almost glittering as her son shifted on the bed. Every stroke of every letter seems purposeful, carefully branding her son. Out from behind the name is the image of a sun. A lyre is also depicted, and if Sally pays close enough attention, the strings seem to move slightly, as though someone is playing it.

The words were murmured, low and firm, like a truth Peter had long since accepted. He swallowed hard, his throat raw, and let out a hollow hum. No kidding.
Peter blinked sluggishly, his vision blurred. His body felt leaden, each movement dragging like he was wading through wet cement. He lifted his head, gaze finally settling on the figure beside him. The man’s face swam into focus—strong jawline, tousled black hair, tan skin. The sleek blue and black suit was unmistakable. Nightwing. He should have felt some sense of familiarity. Recognition. But all he felt was the ache. A tremor of something unspoken clawed at his chest.
And then the world cracked.
“Dad?”

Peter definitely didn’t expect to wake up in some kind of high-tech cave with bats on the ceiling. So even with pain in his body, especially in his arms, he tried to hack the security system—and he half succeeded. The bad part was that he was leaving smears of blood on the table and keyboard, and worse still, someone was coming. So he hid, and when the two men didn’t notice him, he tried to escape upstairs from where they had come. But he was caught by the kind butler. What to do next, Peter didn’t know, but the pastry the butler gave him was delicious—and at least it was some food and happiness for him after all this time...
