Blue were the flowers Belladonna stitched onto the corners of his jacket — one on the left pocket, three on the right — before taking him to the fireworks. The jacket itself had been red, naturally, because red was a proper Baggins colour: sensible, yet quite enjoyable, evoking autumn leaves, ripe apples, and — purely in Bilbo’s mind — ladybugs.
He tore it apart an hour later, chasing after one.

A concept fic based on my obsession with Thorin and Bilbo exchanging colours (the Laketown matching cloaks being the prime example), except I've pushed it a bit further.

Agott’s worried voice echoes from upstairs in the entry hall, carrying down the steps into the kitchen where Qifrey is working.
“I–I’m ok!” Coco hollers in reassurance, but Qifrey’s hands have already dropped the herbs they were binding without a second thought, leaving a scatter of tranquileaf sprigs strewn about the counter. The tone of Agott’s voice had sent a hot jolt of protective fear through his insides, his heart leaping to his throat, beating fast. He nearly trips over his skirt as he hustles up the stone steps into the living room.
.................................................Coco gets a nasty boo-boo, and Qifrey helps get her fixed up. Some big feelings come to the surface and they share an emotional moment.
