Makoto staggered back. That voice. No, she must be tired. She scrambled against the wall, the switch was on this side of the wall. She knew where that was. Hoping she was mistaken, an intruder would be far more preferable to a ghost.
"Akechi?"
Despite everything- the bullets in his chest, Maruki's godhood, and his own refusal of existence- Goro Akechi still breathes. The metaverse's collapse stranded a corpse with a beating heart in the snow, and like a cruel joke, Sae Nijima does not leave him there to rot. At the very least, Makoto's old bedroom is more comfortable than the hospital was. He knows he can't continue hiding behind these walls, but days into December's end Goro is forced to confront phantoms he's been avoiding and that he does not know how to live without tearing himself, and the world, to pieces.
