Chapter 1: Set in a modern AU. Felix's hoodie is the warmest, softest, and best hoodie Annette has ever had. It's her favorite thing to wear when the weather turns crisp. The only problem? She can't find it.
Chapter 2: Set Post-Azure Moon. Annette is happily married to Felix when he is called away to join a diplomatic mission to Sreng. She stays in Fraldarius to continue the development of her school for magic and run the territory. A precious wedding gift from Mercedes has gone missing.

There was nothing traditional about them, the two of them, her bright-minded and barren, him upbeat, ambitious, and unbelonging. They were an odd pair. They made strange shapes; didn’t quite fit together, but fell similar in their strangeness.

Summary
The snowfall is slow and steady today, perpetual in the way that it clings to the branches, the logs, and the grass. White plaster blankets the matted mess of the forest in sheets. Dimitri has led them off the beaten path into the open maw of the Gautier woods, and while this is a moment he’ll turn over in his palm as he listens to the call of war beat its hooves on a rusted field in seventeen years’ time, for now he trusts himself enough to lead his friends through the mess, even if he’d rather not. He concentrates on Sylvain’s humming, which matches the pace at which their boots crunch the snow, and feels a little less bad for it. He doesn’t enjoy telling his friends what to do.

Summary
Seven years after the war and five years after settling down in a rural village, Annette has a decent, stable life. The villagers have accepted her even if they still think she’s an oddity, and the imperial governor respects her while she tutors his daughter.
Then an old friend she thought lost blows into the village pursued by old enemies and reignites an old flame. And she can’t even mourn her hard-earned stability while unsure if she'll soon have to mourn Felix again.
