Summary
Luca works best with lists. He always has. He likes to compartmentalize and organize his life into categories. Family. Academic. Hobbies. Friends.
He had long given up on trying to decide where Alberto belonged. (Except, Luca would think quietly, with him.)
That's why Alberto got his own category.
(I fixed it up a bit, I wrote this all in one afternoon so I didn't get the chance to properly edit. I'll add '**' this at the end of any text I add.)

Summary
“I’m so glad to be back,” Luca says breathlessly, hanging onto Alberto’s waist for dear life as they ride Giuletta’s bike down to the docks to pull up last night's nets.
“Well, we’re glad to have you back,” Alberto says breezily, but he has no idea how much it messes with Luca in the head. “Everyone always asks about you, you know.”
Luca blinks, humbled by the idea. He exhaled softly through his nose, clutching tighter onto his shirt. “I missed you so much, Alberto.” He mutters, tightening his arms around his waist again. “Veramente. I’m really glad to be back.”
“Welcome back to Portorosso then, my friend.”Bookmarked by valexwest

Summary
It took two summers.
Two long, miserable summers of knees brushing together, of fingers “accidentally” overlapping in the clammy darkness of a movie theater, of barely-masked, barely contained flirting for Alberto Scorfano to finally stop pretending. In Massimo's attic, with barely a week left until Luca and Giulia take the train back to school, Alberto finally works up the courage to tell Luca how he feels about him.
It goes... better than Alberto expected.

Summary
Overall, Alberto is pretty happy in Portorosso- he has a great dad, a great sister, and a welcoming community. But six years after a big misunderstanding leads to a bigger mistake, he finds himself struggling. Without Luca in his life to provide some balance, Bruno has become nearly impossible to silence on his own, leading Alberto to search for other methods.
Meanwhile, Giulia and Luca have been flatmates in Pisa where they went to university, and he's done his level best to avoid going home. When Giulia decides she's had enough of both of them being miserable, pining messes, she talks Luca into coming home to Portorosso with her for the summer, hoping the familiar setting and maybe some Chianti will coax them into resolving their conflict and finally getting on with their lives.
