Summary
The ER has always been where Dennis Whitaker feels most like himself—fast, chaotic, and full of people he trusts with his life. But with Robby gone and new leadership changing the rules, Dennis suddenly finds himself on the outside of the work he loves. Balancing a heart condition he can’t outrun, and feelings he’s never quite put into words, becomes harder than expected.
Or a story where three months apart turns out to be just harder than Dennis thought. His heart might break in more than one way.

Summary
“Some things aren’t built to last.”
Dennis Whitaker has spent his entire life trying to outrun his father’s voice and the freezing shadows of a Nebraska silo. He thought he’d found sanctuary in the sterile, frantic heart of the ER, but a single punch from a drunk patient sends him spiraling back into the cold.
Dazed, concussed, and blurring the line between a hospital hallway and a slaughterhouse barn, Dennis lets the truth slip to the one person he was most desperate to impress.
Dr. Robby was supposed to leave for his sabbatical at sunset, but with Dennis shivering in a hospital bed and whispering about lambs in the frost, Robby realizes the road can wait.

Summary
Dennis has learned the consequences of being honest about his health, and he's not interested in sharing those details with anyone inside of the Pitt.

Summary
“You were in an accident. Please, listen to me. Get back on the bed.”
Dennis stills at that, giving him that same, blank look from before. Robby wants to shut his eyes. He never wants to see it again.
He tilts his head. “Accident?”
“You were—” Robby says, and doesn’t miss the desperation in his own voice. “I just told you. You were in an accident. Don’t you remember?”After an argument about Robby’s resignation from the Pitt, Dennis gets into a car crash that makes him unable to retain short-term memories. Including the fight they just had, and Robby’s imminent departure. It’s up to Robby to nurse him back to health, and choose which truth to tell him.
Or, Dennis gets anterograde amnesia.

Summary
In the summer of 1992 in small-town West Texas, Dennis Whitaker finds an ad to work for the Silver Star ranch, becoming drawn to his much-older boss: Michael "Robby" Robinavitch. Trying to escape from a past that won't seem to leave him alone, Dennis finds himself more drawn to Robby than is proper. What makes matters worse is when he meets Robby's best friend, Dr. Jack Abbot. With a burning desire for both Robby and Jack Abbot, Dennis becomes caught between two worlds. A world of pleasure and freedom, and a world of shame and secrets. All Dennis Whitaker wants is to be free.
Or
Dennis wants Robby who wants Dennis who also wants Abbot who also wants Robby and Dennis. And there's cowboys, doctors, and lots of cows.
The title was inspired by August Ponthier's new album, "Everywhere Isn't Texas".
