usually i don't put any notes when i post a bookmark rec, but i feel like this work deserves it.
this bookmark is posted as a reread of the fanfic. i read this the day it was posted, and years after, i read it. unlike some peers, i've always preferred oneshots. one and done, and i don't have to wait. everything compact within thousands of words. but this—i fucking love this. i knew the first time i read this that it's a masterpiece, but rereading it again made me cry. perhaps it's not just how beautifully it was written, how i noticed the parallels in the story of persephone, and the composition itself, but how i resonate with it.
no, i'm not from any rich family. no, i didn't get married because of the wants of someone else. but yes, i did carry with me the burden of just being so imperfect i can't communicate myself well. the way both of them struggle to put themselves out there for each other. how arguments, fights, whatnot happen because of issues in communication and the surrounding issues. the last few chapters made me cry simply because i had felt the weight of kei's feelings, and saw tobio's in someone else i wish i could cherish but something in my throat chokes me when i do.
so yes, this fic is now very important to me. maybe i'll come back to it one day and resolve things and be as happy as they are in the last chapter. i love this so much
