Summary
Eddie always seems to just understand what Steve needs before he understands it himself, even back when they were two kids sharing a hospital room after the near-end-of-the-world. Before Steve’s unplanned train wreck of a marriage, and Eddie’s unplanned meteoric rise to musical fame. Before they somehow became unwitting best-friends, always teetering on the edge of an unspoken something more that they’ll never get to act on. Eddie just knows what Steve needs. He knows Steve.
And what if, now, after all of it, they can finally act? What if they can finally say all of the things that have gone for so long, unspoken?
In the fall of 1997, Steve's marriage falls apart around him while he tries to hold himself together for his two little girls. Luckily, he finds that he doesn't have to sail the sinking ship all on his own, and maybe its a little more water-tight than he had thought. He has people there with life-preservers, and someone important waiting to catch him.
