Middle-earth. Mid-first millennium of the Second Age. The life of King Elros is coming to an end, people from the east are testing the strength of the elven western lands, and in the wilderness Elrond searches and finds Maglor Feanarion, who lives as a hermit, to tell him about the sudden death of King Gil-Galad at the hands of an embittered man. Elrond calls Maglor to be his guest again, remembers the past, and does not expect what the future has in store for him, because where Feanarion is, there will be no peace.
