Work Text:
Gripping the wall like his life depended on it, Luffy bites his lip to stop a moan.
The concrete crumbles in his hand, debris and dust sticking on his already over-heated, sweat-soaked skin. It doesn’t help that the island they docked on is a tropical one.
Meeting up with one of his fellow worst generation just happens to be a mere coincidence .
The alpha behind him grips his hips, sliding inside his hole once again with a groan, deep and low. Luffy can feel his slick slowly dripping down his thighs. The squelching gives him an idea how debauched they both look down there. The slow drag of the alpha’s cock makes him roll his eyes. Reaching deep. Giving him that bone-deep satisfaction he had been craving for the last few months.
Sailing for long a lengthy period of time doesn’t help how deprived they are of each other.
They’re lucky the marines chasing after them doesn’t have anyone in their ranks with haki; not that they need it when his conqueror’s going absolutely haywire with how well his cunt is being stuffed by the alpha.
The smell? Heady and sweet. If anyone with a properly functioning nose passes the alley, for sure they’d know what’s going on around here. It was a part of their agreement to not cover each other’s scent glands when sleeping with each other. Somehow the alpha loves to inhale a lungful of his scent every time he pounds into Luffy’s hole.
If anyone sees him with a knot deep inside his hole, he’s not sure his status won’t spread all over Grand Line and even beyond. That… will be a problem for him and his crew. But considering the alpha he’s with, Luffy’s sure they won’t even survive to tell the tale.
Speaking of the alpha, the man pushes him against the wall, pounding that little spot in his hole that makes him see stars and cum so quickly. The man’s a bastard, trying to get a cry out of him when he knows damn well the marines are after them. He riles Luffy constantly, teases him when he’s so close to cumming. It’s torture. Yet the man’s hand where his forehead’s leaning on says otherwise.
See, this is Luffy’s problem.
Trafalgar Law.
With his cocky smirk, big hands along with his big cock. It doesn’t help that it fits perfectly inside Luffy’s cunt. It’s not just for show, he knows how to use it too. Not that Luffy has enough experience with someone else to know how perfect Law’s cock is compared to others but he just does. Making him cum thrice or more in one of their tryst is proof enough of how good the alpha uses his dick.
For something that started out as transactional, the alpha doesn’t have the right to act so…intimate. It’s making Luffy think of things that he knows will never surely happen. This is a negotiation between two consenting adults who happen to experience their heat and rut on a regular basis, after all. That’s it and nothing more.
Law, himself, clearly stated that.
Luffy remembers how it all started.
Letting Nami go back to the crew to talk privately with the alpha for the alliance may have been a bad idea. Or was it?
Somewhere along the way of explaining his plans, Luffy inhaling all of Law’s scent from the wind carrying it towards him, his heat got triggered.
Kudos to Law for holding on. He did his best to control his alpha but it was a losing battle. Luffy triggered his rut and the rest is history.
The looks his crew gave Law the moment they appeared together after their conversation could kill a weaker man. He had to let them know that it was all consensual and from there on out, Law would be the one he’d spend his heat with.
Now, Luffy’s here, in some random alley, with his hole split open on Law’s cock. He’s not even in his heat. Their crews are somewhere in the island probably causing unintentional chaos just by their mere presence alone. They know how to turn a blind eye. After all, this… whatever this is between Luffy and Law has been going on for some time now. It’s something they both need.
At least that’s what Luffy tells himself.
A tattooed hand reaches out and splays it on his already protruding lower belly. He doesn’t remember how many times they’ve both cum already. Luffy mentally curses when Law rubs it reverently. For a man who uses his hand to grip his sword in a fight, his hands are surprisingly soft with long, elegant fingers that reaches just the right spot.
It drives Luffy crazy. It makes him think that the alpha is happy to breed him. To keep his seed inside Luffy’s womb. To create a life together.
Bullshit.
The ritual they do after of Law removing his spunk inside him is a proof that it could never be.
He knows that in their line of work, – if you can even say it like that – it’s not wise to have those thoughts. The danger that poses to his imaginary kin is a huge dilemma. Even if his omega really, really want it bad. Thinking about tiny copies of the alpha running around with their tiny feet and copied frowns in the Sunny squeezes his heart.
In his little delusional mind, maybe.
Luffy stops himself from chuckling bitterly. He needs all the focus he can get while having a frankly massive cock pushing into his hole as to not give away the bitterness he feels in his scent.
The alpha noses into his mating gland, huffing and inhaling it deeply as if Luffy’s scent is the only thing he needs. It’s really unnecessary. Luffy knows he can make the alpha cum with his cunt alone. Hell, Law happens to love shoving down his cock into his mouth. Grabbing his hair and feeding Luffy his cum. They’ve done that before. So whatever Law’s been doing for the last few coupling they’ve had, he should really stop it. It may give Luffy hope. And that would hound him for the upcoming months of not meeting each other.
Luffy breaks whatever remains of the wall he was clutching for dear life. He can’t stop himself from releasing a pleased scent. At least it would only show that he’s satisfied and not totally in love with his friends with benefits or alliance with benefits. Whatever, Luffy’s thoroughly fucked that he can’t think straight.
If the circumstances of their first time was different, they could’ve been something more. Not whatever this is.
Luffy almost starts sobbing, he’s so in love with this man. It’s not even funny anymore. He tried to stop himself but it’s pointless. Even by the time he woke up from what happened with his brother and knew how Law had helped him, he was far gone. He chalked it up to comfort. Maybe he just needed it that time and Law was there. Present for him.
He misses him so much when they’re not meeting. Even off their cycles, he can’t cum to any thoughts but Law alone. Luffy knows the alpha doesn’t miss him. He’s probably off and happy celebrating not being around him and demanding him anything or ruining his plans. Because he knows exactly what their relationship is or the lack thereof. But it’s so so hard when Law acts so sweet in between their tryst. Making Luffy think that maybe Law wants him too. That whatever is happening between them comes from true desire.
He was told that the alpha helping him might’ve been part of his plan, to trust him better. But Luffy knows deep down, rooted within him that he can trust Law.
Every little thing the man does endears him. Even the way he reacts to how annoying Luffy sometimes get. He seems aloof but Luffy knows how deeply he cares for his crew. It aches deep when he knows none of it is ever meant for him.
Law turns his pounding into a soft grind. Luffy feels his cock throb inside him and he can’t help how his cunt tightens, squeezing the alpha’s cock until it spurts his cum inside his already overly stuffed hole.
“Did I hurt you?” Law whispers in his ears, nibbling it a little as he continues the slow grinding motion of his hips.
Luffy wants to laugh. Maybe he is going crazy.
Is it possible to go crazy with good cock? Maybe he is the first case. He should probably tell Chopper about it but he can’t bring to traumatize the doctor more than he probably is doing by just being in his crew.
See how unnecessary the alpha gets? He could’ve just used Luffy like a cock-sleeve, that would’ve been better. Use him like a cheap whore. Better than giving him hope, for giving him a preview of the future, an experience for whoever ends up as the alpha’s mate.
It’s evil. Trafalgar Law is an evil, evil man.
Luffy shakes his head, opting not to speak before his breaking voice gives him away. He’s already trying so hard to keep his scent clean. A little bit more care would break him.
“Lu, baby, words please.” He says that as he halts his movement entirely and Luffy sobs. He actually sobs.
Luffy cries, “Make me cum please. Torao, it’s so good. So, so good. Don’t stop. I’m so close, please.”
He holds off the thought of scolding the alpha for using an endearment when he knows he’s coming off alone from how good his name sounds from Law’s lips. Like it’s meant to be uttered by him and only him.
“Fuck,” Law grunts. Snapping his hips forward, drilling his big cock in Luffy’s greedy, greedy hole. Luffy moans, not caring if anyone can hear him anymore. Fuck the marines. He’s too far gone, drowning in lust, love and every other emotion this man makes him feel.
Law’s hips stutter as he fills Luffy’s cunt with his load. He can feel the spurt of glob from his dick as his hole sucks in every little drop.
He looks back a little, catching the alpha’s lips with his. Whimpering as their lips lock. The slow drag of their lips, is so sweet, so gentle. It’s a primal need, the feel of his lips against his. He closes his eyes making sure that the alpha doesn’t see his longing.
Luffy turns back the moment their lips separate. Keeping himself together.
He feels Law stiffen behind him. Sliding out of him and Luffy cringes a little, already missing how full he feels with the alpha’s cock inside him even though his cunt still remembers the shape of his cock.
“Is something wrong?” he asks. He puts on his shorts and make himself look a little less fucked out. Which is a really hard thing to do when your legs feel like jelly. He looks up and he sees Law with wide, alarmed eyes. He’s sweaty and flushed. He shakes his head and turns around. Walking stiffly away from Luffy.
“Nothing. Let’s go before the marines find out about this.” He starts walking, not looking back.
It makes Luffy pause and frown but he shakes it off his system. They did take a while and he doesn’t think he can give the marines a good beating after being thoroughly fucked by his alpha. He’d rather not give them the advantage.
He catches casually catches up to Law, blinded by what was an obvious severe reaction to what he did. To what Luffy let himself do. Maybe he should’ve asked more even if the man gets annoyed. Then maybe he can save himself from future heartbreak.
---
Luffy remembers vividly the time when he told himself that he’d be fine being treated like a cheap whore, a mere pump and dump by Law. But now that he’s experiencing it first hand, he takes it back. It sucks.
He doesn’t know which hurt more; being abandoned the moment they both cum or never acknowledging that something had changed.
Both. Luffy knows it both.
He chalks it up to them being busy, preparing for their big fight with Kaido and Big Mom. Planning even though everyone in the alliance knows Luffy cannot follow a plan. But Luffy knows it’s all wishful thinking. He knows it’s him coping.
He knew the reason. A little later after what he did.
It didn’t register at first. But when it hit him, it hit him hard.
It was the kiss.
Luffy made him uncomfortable.
Luffy knew sooner or later that the man would realize Luffy’s feelings for him. He told himself then that he’d be prepared for whatever the outcome is. If Law reciprocates then he’d be the happiest man alive.
And if he doesn’t… well.
He was preparing for this because he knew, he always knew it was always going to be one-sided. That whatever love he feels for him will never be returned. Law is just here to finish his plans. Luffy is useful for it. So he tolerates him. That’s it and nothing more.
He feels used. Which is stupid because whatever is happening between them is literally just them using each other. It’s their contract, their negotiation, their treaty.
But being proven right hurts. Seeing the evidence shatters whatever hold he has in his feeble heart.
He’d been distant. The things that Luffy called unnecessary have never been more jarringly obvious. The scenting, the gentle touches as Law explores his body making him see stars, the way Law noses his glands and inhales his scent like he’s deprived and needed a fix. And when they get to spend time together in a private room, he never stays. Gone.
All gone.
Just because Luffy can’t keep what he’s feeling to himself.
He’d gone and ruined something he could’ve kept, even if he had to hide the fact that he wants something more from the alpha. At least, he would still feel Law’s presence. At least, he would stay. At least, Luffy can still pretend that the intimacy they share is real. The passion and the tenderness would still be there.
Was is really so bad to receive Luffy’s affection? His love?
Luffy does his best to hide it. He knows his crew notices. Even Torao’s. Yet the man himself is immune. He doesn’t know if he’s turning a blind eye or he just doesn’t really care at all.
A little part of his mind tells him Law’s not like that. He’d never deliberately hurt someone. Yet the part that’s been hurt, the part that has been enduring all of the alpha’s rejection tells him it’s time to accept the fact that Law will never see him as someone worthy to be with.
--
The fight had been brutal. All of them needed some time to recuperate. To heal. To let it sink in to the people of Wano that they are no longer coerced. That they earned the freedom they’ve always dreamed of.
They celebrated, of course, after that. His crew, his friends. A night of freedom, laughter and tears after years of pain and suffering. Remembering and honoring those who sacrificed themselves.
Luffy settles with his crew. He looks around, smile dropping a little when he doesn’t see the alpha amongst the people that gathered around. But he pushed through it. Celebrated. Enjoyed the night even though half of his heart is nowhere to be found.
Luffy gets the message really. He does.
Then morning comes. He calms his heart. He’d made peace with it a little. He tells his crew to prepare for Elbaf.
Right before they depart, he sees Law along with Kid in their own ships. Both captains preparing to depart themselves. The redhead sees him and eggs him on about stuff Luffy really doesn’t register. He feels like he’s floating with no destination, nothing to anchor to.
He’s lucky Chopper made the crew their own scent patch or else Luffy will be broadcasting how upset he is. And how embarrassing would that be. Falling in love with a rival for One Piece. Feeling so used when he knew exactly what he was getting himself into.
He’s stupid. He’s so so stupid.
The alpha looks at Sunny, his crew and finally at him. There’s something in his beautiful golden eyes that Luffy can’t seem to process. Or Luffy’s too clouded by his own misery that all he can see is regret.
Maybe that’s what Law’s been feeling all along. Regret. For all the things they’ve done. And maybe, maybe he’s relieved that he’d never be around Luffy anymore.
He has no time to decipher that when the alpha only nods at him. Pfft. He fucking nods at Luffy and turns around, telling his crew to set sail.
This prick.
Why is Luffy so in love with him? Why of all people did he have to fall for one Trafalgar Law?
And at that moment, it hits him. That heavy gravity dragging him down, the cruel truth that this may be the last time he’d see the alpha. Because that’s what Law said right? Their alliance ends here. Kaido’s gone. He achieved what he wanted.
Luffy’s fine. He’s totally fine. His heart’s not torn or ripped off. Law really hit the spot when he named his crew the Heart Pirates. A perfect moniker for someone who took Luffy’s heart and went off with it. And Luffy’s so stupid for letting him. For making this happen.
He feels numb as this point as he looks at his crew with a forced smile. He stares at them one by one. And he sees it. The way they feel for their caption. Oh, they knew too. He sees the rage and disappointment in their eyes directed at Luffy’s rival captain.
He shakes his head. It’s Luffy’s fault for falling anyway. He tries his best to cheer himself up before screaming with his heart. “Let’s go. Set sail for Elbaf!”
He never looks back. Not when he might change his resolve and beg Law to want him back. The rejection’s embarrassing enough when he doesn’t have an audience, showcasing his heartbreak to everyone is something he’d rather not have.
A comforting hand rubs his back and the soft pressure and comfort it gives is what takes for Luffy to cry.
“Everything’s going to be fine, captain.” He hear Robin says as she leads him to his own quarter. “We’ll take care of the rest.”
--
Two cycles without a heat partner is making Luffy miserable.
He knows his crew wants the best for him. Wants their captain to not suffer when it can all be avoided by spending just one coupling with another alpha. No strings attached, just for relief. But isn’t that what started his problem in the first place?
He refused to bed another alpha. He refuses to. He doesn’t even know if spending his heat with another will abate his misery. He thinks not. He can’t even get off without thinking of Law.
He’s so pathetic. He hates it.
After a week of constant distress and irritation, the crew decides that he needed to decompress. Whatever the hell that means. But he’s promised adventure and good food so he agrees.
Nami navigates them to an island. It suspiciously looks close to Dressrosa but without the manipulation of a man acting like a god.
Luffy likes it. It’s sunny, there’s festivity. There are tons of food stalls he can try. The townsfolk seem to be welcoming to pirates too.
Surprisingly enough, Nami gave him beri to spare. Sure, a little out of character but he gets beri for food and Sanji’s bento? Yeah, he’s not questioning that.
He skips around, meat skewers in both hands humming to himself. He has nothing in his mind but tasting everything he can get his hands on. Maybe his crew was right, maybe this is what he needed. Maybe decompressing isn’t so bad after all.
In his exploring, he ends up in a gazebo overlooking the town. He closes his eyes and sighs feeling the wind caress his skin. This reminds him of his home town. He feels a little bittersweet nostalgia. He shakes his head, letting it go. It’s better now, he has his crew with him. He’s not alone.
He’s in his own little world that he doesn’t notice the alarming amount of rushed footsteps behind him. He’s about to eat Sanji’s bento when he senses the bullet zipping past his arm. Another one hits his hand. He watches in distraught as Sanji’s food falls to the ground.
He won’t be surprised if the marine sends an entire fleet after he released his conqueror’s haki the size of the island. Several of the marines fall. Oh for sure, they are sending more.
He ducks down to grab whatever he can salvage of the bento when they just won’t stop shooting him with these useless bullets. Haven’t they learned already? Surely they know he’s immune to guns as long as it’s not laced with haki or sea prism. Shouldn’t they have it in their reports or whatever they do in their offices? These marines surely are slacking.
It’s one thing to shoot him from his back but disturbing him while he eats Sanji’s food and shooting him from his back?
Oh Luffy’s gonna beat these assholes to smithereens.
He grins, this is good. He can release all his pent up emotions and fighting has always been a sure fire way to let it all go.
He’s about to send a poor marine to the other side of the island when the scent hits him.
“Now you’ve done it. Don’t you guys know not to bother someone when they’re eating? That’s a little bit cowardly no? Then again, you are marines. I guess it comes with the territory.”
The relief he feels hearing the alpha’s voice after so long is embarrassing. Luffy was fine. He is fine without him. Yet his legs shivers as he hears Law’s voice again.
Is it normal to get turned on by it? He feels himself slicking and he curses the man. You really can’t fault Luffy though. Anyone hearing Law’s voice would feel the same, he assures himself. He’s sure there are others out there who have a recording of his voice or really at this point anything relating to Law and gets off on it. He doesn’t blame them, he has first hand experience so he understands.
He’s too hot for his own good and for Luffy’s sanity.
He irks himself thinking about other people using his Law for their own satisfaction. It’s ridiculous cause Luffy has no right. Law’s not his, the man’s not his alpha, he’s not Law’s omega. Not a friend, not even an ally at this point. Luffy’s no one and he doesn’t understand why the man is even here. But it doesn’t stop his omega for wanting to stake his claim.
Stupid omega.
He is finally processing whatever happened between them in a healthy way and now Law’s back inserting himself into his life again.
They fight the marines together and if Luffy doesn’t bother moving his attacks out of the way of Law, that’s on him. He doesn’t want to hurt the man of course, but keeping him on his toes is a little therapeutic for Luffy. Does he feel bad? A little. But let him have this.
Law looks at him with a raised brow.
Yeah, of course, he notices. Who is he kidding, the man’s strong on his own.
Luffy then loses his footing and ends up in a blue sphere as Law shambles them out of the area. Luffy bites his lips. Why is Law so hot and a bastard at the same time? Do all alphas come like this out of the factory?
He shakes his head, nah. It’s just Law. And he happens to have his sight on Luffy. Poor him.
They both end up in a room somewhere in town Luffy assumes. He gulps, brows creasing as he sees the bed decorated with flowers. He sees his favorite foods spread on a table in the corner of the room.
Did Luffy actually get hit with a sea prism bullet and is somehow hallucinating?
What is happening? It’s so out of his depth that he can’t comprehend what’s going on. Did someone have a devil fruit that let’s him live out his fantasies? If so, it’s not funny. That devil fruit user better start running away from Luffy because when Luffy gets his hands on them...
“Whats happening?” he asks dumbly. He needs to know. His heart can’t take this anymore.
The alpha saunters toward him. He stops right in front of Luffy and stares at him like he’s the only one in Law’s eyes. Like everything is okay now that Luffy’s safe by his side. He checks Luffy in a scan, making sure not a single bullet grazed him. The alpha holds his face gently, reverently as if memorizing again after the time they’ve spent apart from each other.
“Lu.” That’s the only thing he says as he surges forward, mouth crashing against his. It’s all teeth and hunger. Luffy groans and against his better judgment kisses him back.
He’s so pathetically weak for this man.
The kiss turns slower, lips smacking gently against each other. Law’s breaks the kiss first and latches on to his neck. His mating gland. Luffy would be embarrassed at the sound he let out but he has no time for that.
His legs grow weak as every kiss sends a shiver down his spine. Law notices and carries him with utter care that Luffy almost sobs with how delicate he feels as his back touches the silky sheets. He tries to look away but Law’s hands anchors him.
“Let me see your face, please.” He kisses him once again, dousing him with his scent. “I missed you.”
Luffy doesn’t say anything, still reeling with all the emotions crashing down on him. Tears start falling down his eyes, he missed this too. So much. But he’s afraid that if he says it out loud, he’ll ruin the illusion and he’ll wake up in his bed. Alone.
Strong arms pulls him closer, a croon rumbling in the alpha’s chest. Comforting him. It’s everything he’s ever wanted. All those missed heats, sleepless nights. It slowly mends the crack in Luffy’s heart. It soothes his soul.
Luffy’s a weak man so he purrs for his alpha.
He smells his relief, his satisfaction as if Law had been waiting for this. Luffy stops himself from scoffing, he doesn’t want to ruin this.
Little gasps are pulled from him each time Law drags his fangs on his mating gland. He feels large hands worshiping every inch of his body, dousing every part of Luffy with his scent. It feels like he’s being claimed and he can’t stop himself from unraveling.
At some point, their clothes leave their bodies. Thrown out of the bed. Forgotten.
Skin to skin, Luffy keens when Law’s swollen crown drags against his aching cunt as he continues to mark every inch of Luffy’s neck and chest. His tits aches every time the alpha’s lips latches on it but Luffy want’s all of it.
Moans slips from his lips and mixes with Law’s grunts as eventually he feels his hips raised and legs placed firmly on Law’s waiting shoulders.
Luffy’s eyes rolls, mouth slacked open at the first drag of the alpha’s cock against his walls. Even with how dripping wet he is, there’s still a slight aching burn in his hole that makes him lose his mind. It’s so painfully delicious that he cums right away. Slick gushing out of him, drenching both of their bodies.
“Fuck, fuck Lu. You’re so good. Fuck. Yes baby, cum on my cock. You can come again for me, right? Be good for me?”
Each wet slap of their skin brings him closer to edge again until he’s babbling nonsense. He feels his alpha’s hip stutter, praises falling off his mouth. He feels teeth latch near his mating gland as Law’s knot pops inside him, grinding with each deep thrust.
It’s getting harder to move, Luffy’s cunt tightens with every little drag of Law’s inflated knot. “Your hole’s so greedy, Lu. Taking every drop I give. Fuck.”
Luffy feels warm, warmer than he had for months.
But it doesn’t end there, it gets difficult to think straight when fingers or a massive cock gets constantly shoved down his cunt. He lost track of how many times they coupled. All he knows each time he cums, his body writhes in immense pleasure. Their pheromones mixing perfectly with each other. Filling the room with an intoxicating scent.
The last thing he remembers is Law pressing a kiss against his temple, telling him to sleep. Promising him that he’ll be right there when he awakes.
He hears no hint of deception that naive, stupid Luffy actually believes.
----
Sheets rustles as Luffy forces himself out of his sleepiness. He blinks a few times and registers where he is. He looks at himself. He sees the countless hickeys in his body. He feels that bone deep familiar satisfying ache in his cunt. He still feels Law’s seed sluggishly beading out of his hole. Yet when he looks around once more, he realizes he is alone.
He’s scared to touch the other side of the bed but he forces himself to.
The sheets are cold.
Luffy laughs at himself bitterly. He should’ve known. It was too good to be true.
Was he naive for believing the sweet words the alpha told him last night? Maybe he is. Maybe love really did make him blind.
Still, he gives the alpha benefit of the doubt. He waits.
He waits until he starts berating himself.
Thirty minutes.
He forces himself to stand and look for the room’s bath. It’s fancy and shiny. Law’s never brought Luffy to a shitty hotel every time they’ve slept together but this one’s a little fancier than what he’s used to. It gives him a little hope that maybe with the flowers and the food, that the alpha planned more. It’s a sweet thought. But reality crashes in and in the end, it is just all there is to it. A thought.
He turns on the shower and shivers with how cold the water is. He quickly sets the temperature and stops himself from breaking into tears. He grabs a bottle of soap and dumps it all over himself. He scrubs his skin raw making sure none of the alpha’s scent is on him.
His heart slowly falls to pieces the moment the water slips down his body knowing their intertwined scents gets washed out as he watches the suds of soap go down the drain. He shakes himself out of his stupor, let’s himself out of the bath expecting Law to be back and question him why’d he let their scents wash off and he’d scent Luffy again deliberately making sure he remembers who his alpha is but the room remains empty.
An hour.
He looks around in hopes that the alpha left something.
His hat, a note.
Anything.
He must looks stupid as he searches every nook and cranny of the room butt-naked. Checks every possible place that Law could’ve left something. He hates that he had hope. The room’s far off from what it used to look like when they first arrived; sheets thrown on the floor, pillows unstacked, furniture turned upside down. But there’s nothing.
Two hours.
Luffy picks up his clothes. The only consolation he briefly thinks is that they’re intact, it’s not ripped, no stains, all in pristine condition as if nothing happened. As if the night he thought he’d finally have Law’s reciprocated feelings never happened. He huffs. It never did. There was nothing before and there is nothing now. Nothing changed.
At least he doesn’t have to return back to the Sunny and expecting Nami’s scolding about his clothes.
Three hours.
It’s a little too late when Luffy realizes what’s happening. The alpha’s giving him an opportunity to leave, to give him a semblance of self-respect even though he feels none of it.
Luffy never learns, does he?
Suddenly, he feels very , very tired. So he leaves.
He gets back to the sunny. Luffy hears Chopper’s and Ussop’s cheerful voice calling for him. He hears Zoro and Sanji’s morning banter even if they’re inside the kitchen. He sees the girls lounging on a chair taking advantage of the soft morning sun. He hears the clear and vibrant notes of Brook’s violin. And he sees Franky and Jinbe tinkering around the Sunny’s helm.
It feels nice to know that his crew is there waiting for him. A home to return to. That they’re still there welcoming him even when he feels this vulnerable.
An evil part of his mind tells him to keep it all in, what kind of captain is he if he shows himself to his crew like this. He knows deep inside him that they don’t care. That they’ve seen each other in their worst and still remain loyal to each other, to their dreams.
Nami’s first to notice his scent. He sees it in the way her pretty brows furrows. Maybe if Luffy had the same arch in his brows, will Law stay?
Robin follows, she stands so elegantly that Luffy knows even if he tries really hard, he can never replicate her ways. Does Law prefer something like that?
Nami rushes beside him “Luffy, what happened?”
It gets everyone’s attention, their scents going haywire the moment they get a whiff of Luffy. He must’ve smell so bad. Even Zoro and Sanji bursts out of the kitchen. He feels bad, he doesn’t want to ruin their morning with his mistakes.
Robin looks behind him with a frown, she’s looking at something and he senses the moment she didn’t see what she’s looking for. Robin, the only other omega in their crew, so motherly, so loving even after all the fucked up shit she went through barely lets go of the control she has with her instinct and scent but the anger and disappointment he smells in her scent makes Luffy’s eyes sear.
Her mate, Franky, rushes over but Robin shakes her head and the man stays where he is hovering close by, giving comfort.
Zoro stomps forward, grabbing all three of his swords going god knows where. It makes Luffy giggle through his tears. It takes Sanji, Jinbe and Brook to calm the alpha down.
Chopper runs to him and places his hoof in Luffy’s hand.
Luffy can’t stop it, he grabs his nakama and clutches him against his chest. Heaving his heart out.
He’s so stupid. So so fucking stupid.
He feels more arms around him, and hears Nami’s voice. “You’re not Luffy. You’re not.
He hears Zoro cursing somewhere, “Let me fucking go! That fucking bastard!”
Of course they know. Has it always been a normal occurrence for them to see Luffy like this when he meets up with Law? Do they also think he’s pathetic, that he never learns?
He feels their scent embracing him, it’s Nami that immediately answers. “No Luffy, never think that. Some people are just blind to know how good they have it.”
Sanji steps up to them, raking his hair. “Do you want us to beat the shit out of him, Captain?”
Luffy immediately shakes his head. “There’s no point.” He cringes when he hears how hoarse his voice is.
Robin and Nami leads him to one of the chairs and Jinbe offers him a glass of water.
He takes it with a grateful thanks and slowly sips.
It takes him a while to calm down. To get his head clear. And when he does, Ussop asks, “What do you want to do, Captain?”
Luffy raises his head and looks at the island in front of him. His crew just wanted him to have a little break and the man ruins it. He wants to burn the memories of this place in his head, find Pudding to snip every remaining shred of memory he has of Law. He really wishes for the impossible sometimes, doesn’t he? Even though he knows he can never do that. Their memories together are important even if it brings Luffy pain.
He’s so tired so he calmly say, “Let’s just go.”
Nami nods, commanding everyone and making the Sunny come to life.
Robin stays beside him, a reassuring presence as he finally let’s go of every hope he has of a future with Law.
---
Months later, he’s deep in his heat, miserable and suffering unable to get release when he hears a commotion outside their heat room in the Sunny. He hears muffled screaming and clashing of swords. He throws a pillow in frustration and it lodges inside the thick wall of the room. He cringes and apologizes to Sunny and Franky.
Just because he’s so frustrated for not getting off doesn’t mean he can throw a tantrum and hurt Sunny. He wallows in his misery a bit then realizes once more that there is something happening in the deck. That he has to get his shit together.
Nobody should know the existence of this island besides the Strawhat. This is their tiny sanctuary where they spend their respective cycles. The only place they feel safe enough to lower their guards and let instinct rule their mind for a week or less before Luffy decided he’d spent his heat with his rival. So hearing the sound of battle outside the room is unexpected.
He groans to himself. Now is not the time to think about him. There is never a time to think about that bastard. He’s had enough heartbreak to last him a lifetime. He tells himself he’s over it but the scent of distress, anguish and longing filling the room says otherwise.
He tries to use his haki to check if his crew is safe. But his heat muddles with everything that he somehow, of all things, senses Law’s haki. His omega is delusional enough to conjure the man’s haki even after all the time that’s passed and the shit show that happened in that god forsaken island. He lets out a sigh. It’s useless. His heat and his omega clouds his haki.
Were they ambushed? Were they followed? He wracks his brain for possibilities and nothing comes up. Their haki is strong enough to notice when someone is tailing them. So, how?
He tries to stand but curses the moment his legs wobble. He falls unto the soft cushion of the bed, where all his pack’s belonging are set in his nest. He tries ones again and groans in defeat when he can’t.
He’s in the middle of trying again because he’s stubborn and he doesn’t want to let his crew get hurt even if he knows they’re so strong and they can handle themselves just fine but the nagging omega in his brain screams at him, to check his pack even if it’s the reason why Luffy can’t do anything besides cry in frustration when he can’t do absolutely anything when the door of the room opens.
He readies himself, making sure he can defend himself even in the state he’s in. He won’t go down without a fight. What kind of pirate king would he be if a mere heat stops him?
The room must’ve smelled exactly like what he’s feeling because the alpha standing outside the room scrunches his nose in distress.
The fucking audacity?
Who the hell does he think he is, barging into his nest, with no consent from the omega residing in the said nest?
If he hated the smell, he can fuck off. Luffy doesn’t want him here anyway.
And why the hell is he here in the first place? He has no business with the Strawhats.
Luffy doesn’t even pretend that the alpha’s an illusion when he sees a bruise blossoming on the man’s jaw.
Luffy laughs. “Zoro’s got you good, huh?”
Law stand there, frozen as if seeing Luffy in this state brings back unwanted images in his head for when they used to spend their rut and heat together.
Luffy’s mad, rightfully so. He has a right to demand the alpha to leave, to never set foot in Sunny again and when the next time they meet in the seas, Luffy’s gonna listen for once to the alpha’s words: that they are enemies and he won’t hesitate to prove that.
Yet the voice that leaves him after the anger simmers down is just the sound of defeat, “Why are you even here, Law? You made it pretty clear that you have nothing to do with me. Just leave.”
A blur of white and orange pushes the alpha inside and he stumbles in trying to catch himself. The door closes and Luffy hears a lock click. Not that it can stop him but in his current situation, he might need the stupid alpha’s help and that makes him grit his teeth.
The air in the room stands still as they look at each other. In the room’s lighting, Luffy sees the bruise on Law’s jaw and he hates how he wanted to reach out and make it better. The more he looks at the man, the more he sees his eyes are sunken. He looks like he hasn’t slept in ages. When was the last time this man took his time to rest? Law looks older, haggard. Like he aged twice as much as the time they spent apart.
The longer the man stands there looking at him like a memory of his past, the more Luffy’s getting irritated and horny. He wants to throw himself out of the window for even feeling that. Just to escape, just to avoid the proof that he is definitely not over this alpha. And he probably never will.
It’s a disheartening thought because he made himself believe that he’s fine. Yet when he sees the man standing in front of him, all he wants is to run into his arms.
But he pushes through, Luffy learned. Never again. He has more self-respect than that.
“If you have nothing to say, just shamble yourself out, will you?”
“I … Lu..” his hands hover as if wanting to reach him but he puts it down seeing Luffy’s frown.
“Spit it out or leave. Please. I don’t wanna see you any longer than I already have.” Luffy bites his lip, tries to stop himself from crying because he cried enough for this man and he doesn’t deserve another drop of his tears.
The man starts to sob, heaves like his life is crashing down on him, past naive Luffy would crumble the moment those tears drop but not present Luffy, he’s too jaded from all the heart break. The crushed hope. The failed promises.
“Lu, Baby, please.”
Luffy hisses, “Don’t fucking call me that!” Luffy’s in his throes of heat but the anger that surges back erases all of the wanton thoughts and longing in his omega brain. “Not when you left me in that room all on my own after you promised me that you’d stay.” He hates the crack in his voice. He’s stronger than this, one stupid alpha won’t make him crumble. Not again.
“Luffy, please. It’s nothing like that. I came back -”
“No more sweet words coming from your mouth, Law. Please. I’m tired. I’m so tired.”
The alpha walks forward but stops right over the edge of Luffy’s nest. He hates that his heart stings seeing the man hover over his nest, respecting an omega’s space even if he already trampled all over Luffy’s heart for so long.
Law kneels down. Luffy sees how bad he looks before the man shows his neck. Luffy stiffens. His hair’s unkempt, his goatie’s scruffy. Frankly, he had seen Law in better days and this, obviously, isn’t it. His omega whines, to comfort but Luffy shakes it off.
Law looks back at him, eyes imploring. “No. No sweet words. Only the truth. Please Luffy, listen to me. And if in the end, you don’t believe me then I’ll go. Please.”
He’s torn. In the alpha’s sorry state, Luffy wants to hear him out but the other side of him, who’s seriously sick of getting hurt tells him to shut him off. Luffy’s heart will not be trampled again.
But he caves in. It’s hard seeing the man you love – yes , love because even if he tries to make himself believe that he’s not utterly still in love with Law, it’s a damn lie and Luffy has always been a bad liar – hurting. That’s the last thing Luffy wants Law to feel. Even after all those heartbreak. Even then.
Luffy nods and the audible sigh of relief the man let’s out seems to lift his shoulders a little. Luffy then realizes when Law looks at him with wide-eyes, sporting a blush on his cheeks that it was not just because of Luffy’s pheromones but of how stark naked he is. The alpha looks away.
This, this is nothing new between them but all the times they’ve seen each other naked, they had each other’s consent. And maybe Luffy’s too soft on him but he appreciates it. If Law respects him enough for this and even during the time when he was most vulnerable and at his worst when he lost his brother then may be, it’s worth to give him this chance. To explain himself.
He covers himself quickly with a fluffy blanket, heat and all forgotten. Well, not really. He still feels his hole aching but he tamps it down. He clears his throat, “You can look now.”
Luffy sees the way Law’s eyes water. He’s looking at him with so much longing that Luffy’s traitorous heart skips a beat.
“You’re beautiful.” He whispers softly.
Luffy bites his tongue, controlling his scent from going haywire. He calms himself down, not letting anything out. He already doesn’t like the idea of his heat affecting Law’s thoughts and making it all want him. He wants the truth.
“I said enough with the sweet words.” He enforces it.
Law gives him a sad smile and Luffy has to grip the sheets of the bed to keep himself from whining.
“Right.”
Law straightens up, he exhales and shakes his head. He apologizes when he pulls out a mask from his pocket, the ones that he can see his mouth through the transparent lens and uses it to cover his nose. It’s a little ridiculou, this current predicament of theirs but is it really Luffy and Law’s if it’s nothing sort of painful and comical?
At least this way, he’ll know that the alpha’s not affected by his pheromones.
“As I said, I came back but you weren’t there. Believe me Luffy, I looked for you. Everywhere. I used any means possible. I may have gathered more enemies, terrorized people in the process but it’s all worth it.”
Luffy frowns, he doesn’t understand. “Why did you leave in the first place? I waited for you.”
The alpha grimaces, “Would you believe me if I was getting you a courting gift?”
Luffy’s jaw drops as he looks at Law. He shakes his head, trying to think straight. Courting? Of all things? Courting? Would Law reach these lengths just to sleep with him again? He subtly sniffs the air around them but he smells nothing but longing in Law’s pheromones.
“W-why would you do that?”
Law smiles, it’s a little blinding that Luffy has to look away. He really looks better with a smile on his face. “Why wouldn’t I? I found the person I wanna spend my life with.”
Luffy hopes that Law can’t hear the rapid rhythm of his beating heart. He tamps it down, down, down until he can form a coherent thought in his brain. It’s a long process and Law waits patiently with his ridiculous mask and messy hair.
“You’re just saying that. Was it not enough to hurt me the first time?” Luffy voice cracks and his eyes starts to water. He wanted this so much but hearing it from Law’s lip after all that happened is akin to putting salt in a wound.
He smells Law’s distress once again, “Baby – sorry. Luffy. I never wanted to hurt you. Please. Every time we meet, I’ve always expressed my courting. But you seem to never reciprocate it so I chalked it up to us just keeping our relationship to whatever it was. At least I still get a part of you. It’s better than losing all of you. And I’ve seen how people gravitate toward you ever since Sabaody. You have a lot of people in the palm of your hands, Luffy, you can choose whoever you want. Why would it be me?”
“Then how come I’ve never seen it? All these courting you keep saying.” Luffy waves his hand frantically, the blanket that covers him pools down his hips and Law’s eyes linger on his chest.
“Luffy, you’re from the East blue, right?”
“Yes? Why does it matter?” he pouts, he then adds with a glare, “Hey, my eyes are up here!”
Law clears his throat, “Right, sorry. It matters a lot actually. You remember I’m from the North?”
Luffy nods, what’s this all about? Can’t Law just say it outright? “Yes? Just like Sanji.”
Law nods in relief, “Yes, just like Black-Leg-ya. Good. Good. So a good friend of mine, and your very own crew, who happens to want my head in a silver platter and hand deliver it to you reminded me that the courting practices from where we are very different. It gave me another chance. That maybe if I showed you that I was courting you in East blue’s way then maybe you’ll be mine.”
It dawns unto Luffy how utterly stupid this all is. Was Law really courting him all those time and he just didn’t notice? But what about the kiss? Why did he suddenly change?
“Then why did you change when I kissed you?”
Law sighs, “I thought I was making you confused.”
“Me? Confused? How?”
“You’re young Luffy. I’m so much older than you. And being around you all the time might’ve confused you and your omega, swayed you into thinking that I am your alpha,” he says it so honestly that Luffy actually wants to smack his face. He stops himself, barely.
Luffy raises his hands in absurdity, “You’re only seven years older than me, Law!”
“Exactly. I’m way older than you -”
“Shut up. I’m not done yet.”
The man closes his mouth and nods.
“Do you really think you’d sway me? Me? THE Monkey D. Luffy? Sway my feelings he says. Have you learned nothing being around me for so long?”
The alpha’s eye widen, he looks away a little sheepish. That’s right, he better ingrain that in his smart brain. For someone so smart, Law can be very stupid. He can’t believe all this heart break in both sides could’ve been avoided if they actually talked to each other and not just assume each other’s feelings.
“That’s… yeah.” He rubs his nape, looking a little chastised. “I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean to hurt you, Luffy. I heard about what happened from your crew, all the things I’ve put you through. Accidentally or not, I wanted to apologize and set everything straight. It took me a while but I’m glad I did. I love you, Luffy. And even if you don’t accept my feelings, at least I know I made it clear this time.”
Luffy reels in the absolute joy he feels. Don’t get him wrong he’s very, very happy. Hearing that sincere confession from Law mends some of the hurt he experienced from this misunderstanding but he knows a part of him is wary. A part of him is scared of getting hurt again even if Law’s opening his heart fully to him, even if he knows that the alpha loves him.
He doesn’t want this starting the way it did before, him being in heat at the moment doesn’t really help. He want’s to take it slow. With how fast they ended up in each other’s embrace, he want’s to take his time. See how Law courts him in North Blue’s ways and him doing East Blue’s for the alpha. He’s been told all his life that leading a courtship is an alpha’s affair but he wants to do it his way.
“I – I love you too, Torao.” It feels so liberating to finally let it out after all those months of pinning and longing. Of crying in his sleep thinking that the person he wants would never want him back. But he doesn’t wanna make the same mistake of misunderstanding each other so he sets his ground.
“But…”
“But?” He sees the man freeze. Poor alpha, Luffy wasn’t the only one hurt in this wasn’t he? Law was hurt too. He’d been neglecting and ignoring all of the alpha’s proper courting advances. Luffy’s not the only one who’s wary, his alpha is too.
“I wanna take it slow. I want us to court. I want us to give each other proof.”
Law nods immediately, he then situates himself better, properly presenting his mating gland. “Then, bite me.”
“Yeah, bite you… that’s perfect -” Luffy’s eyes widen as his already foggy brain registers what the man said.
“Bite you?” He asks warily.
“Yes. Bite me.” Law responds firmly.
“Bite you?!” He asks again a little flabbergasted this time.
The man nods as if he’s stating the goddamn whether. “Yes, Lu. Bite me.”
“Are you out of your mind? I just said we should take it slow, Torao. What’s wrong with you?! I should be the one being ridiculous, not you! What if I never let you bite me back? What if all those heart break is enough for me? Are you just going around with an unreciprocated mating mark? Are you out of your mind? I thought you know better, Torao. You’re a doctor! It’s your thing! Do you know how long I have to sit in Chopper’s clinic hearing all these boring stuff just to ingrain the effects of an unfinished mating mark? Too long, Toroa! Too damn long!”
He’s out of breathe the moment he finishes his rant. He calms his violently beating heart and places his hand over his chest. He looks at the alpha and Luffy want’s to chuck a shirt at him for looking so amused and endeared.
God. May be Luffy wasn’t the one going blind with love, after all. Are they gonna be okay?
“If that’s the only thing that makes you believe that you’re all I ever wanted. I’ll gladly do so. Even if you never bite me back, I’d suffer the consequences. As long as you know that I am yours always. That’s enough for me.”
Luffy really really wants to kiss his big, dumb alpha but he stops himself. He chants to himself. Take it slow, take it slow. Even if he badly wants to jump the man. He needs to sleep, to eat, to rest. He looks like he’ll keel over once Luffy gets his hand on him.
May be in his next heat, months from now. Maybe he can share it with Law again, as a couple this time.
“My stupid Alpha. I love you.” He crawls forward to the edge of his nest and leans into Law’s space. He gladly scents his alpha. His Torao.
Law basks in it and he’s already looking a little bit better but he still needs time to rest. “I love you too, my omega.”
“For the record, you said it earlier that I can choose whoever I want…” Luffy whispers nosing the man’s mating gland. He smells so good, Luffy’s not sure he will be able to hold back a little longer so he has to get this straight into his alpha’s brain.
The man hums, releasing his own scent. He’s still wearing his stupid mask but it’s the only thing keeping them both sane at the moment so Luffy let’s it slide.
“There was never a choice. It’s always been you. My only one.”
And if he throws the alpha out the moment he says that, that’s on him. He’ll stick to what he wants. If he says they’ll take it slow, they will take it slow.
At the end of the day, Luffy seamlessly rides his heat with the thought of his alpha’s warm loving hands.
