Chapter Text
You weren’t sure what had woken you up.
There was the faintest light peaking through the curtains. You had no idea what time it was, though; if you had to guess, it was sometime in the afternoon. Strange, you normally had no problem being able to sleep through the day. After the events of last night, you thought that you wouldn’t have any problems sleeping till at least 8 pm.
You weren’t truly awake as you gathered your bearings. You were sandwiched between Moon and Sun. You were facing Moon, and as close as you could be without it getting too uncomfortable. Sun had his arms wrapped around, and you could tell that both of them were still fast asleep. Moon was also wrapped around you; you weren’t sure if you could move out of their grasp if you tried.
You had spent the night at their apartment. When you got here, you really didn’t get a good look at the room as you were a bit preoccupied with other things. Though you did know that Eclipse was gone for the night, and it was just the three of them. Their bed was large enough for three very large bots and then some. So there was enough space for everyone without feeling too squished.
Maybe it was your vampire sense or something much deeper that still lingered in what was left of your humanity, but you felt like you were being watched. Which didn’t make a whole lot of sense, given the other two people in the room were sleeping right beside you.
Without much thought, you glanced up at the ceiling, and your blood went cold.
On the ceiling was something that wasn’t human in the slightest. It was long like that of a centipede or some other type of bug. Its head and face were looking right at you with its multiple eyes. All of them were bright crimson that bore right into you like it knew that you were right there. Its body was bony and almost skeletal in nature. There were many limbs, and all of them were holding onto the ceiling, the hands- or maybe claws. You weren’t really able to get a good look in the darkened room. You actually couldn’t tell if that thing even had any clothes on. Maybe at one time it did, but not anymore.
You could feel yourself completely freezing up, not wanting to move at all. Whatever that thing was, you knew that it was dangerous, and one wrong move meant you could be killed. The thing had at least five eyes. You couldn’t help yourself as you held your braided breath while watching it.
You had no idea if trying to wake either Sun or Moon was even worth it. That thing was still too close, and if you made any type of move, there was a good chance the thing could move and attack you. Or worse, you thought, it could attack either of them while they were just trying to wake up.
You had no idea how the two of them would react to something like that, attacking them. You didn’t even know what you could do if that thing tried attacking you. It was clear the thing had gotten in here somehow without making any noise. You had no idea what that thing was fully capable of doing.
Then you watched in horror as the thing moved. It was nearly silent and moved backwards, then towards the door. It was then that you noticed that the door had been slightly ajar. Its movements were jerky and borderline horrific, and you could swear you could hear the faintest sound of its limbs and the bones cracking.
Then it was gone. You let out a breath that you hadn’t realized that you were keeping. You could still hear your own blood in your ears as you waited for the thing to return or worse, something else to come. Something from your worst nightmares.
The bed beside you moved, and you found yourself once again freezing up. It was Sun, and it was clear that he was getting up. You wanted to reach over and tell him to stay. Had he seen whatever was just in the room with the three of you? Or was he just getting up because he needed something? You did nothing and just stayed as still as possible as you heard him leave the room.
You felt yourself holding your breath once again as you waited for… something. Yet, after a long moment, you heard nothing but silence. Whatever that thing was, it was clearly long gone. You could hear Sun maybe moving around in the other room but it was hard to tell.
You could feel yourself becoming tired as your heart slowed down and you began to relax once more. As you began to drift off, you felt Moon pull you closer to him.
You had no idea when you fell back asleep, but it was clear when you woke back up that you were alone. The room was almost pitch black, unlike earlier when you had been woken. You wondered if what had happened was some kind of sleep demon.
Never in your life have you had problems like that. You wondered if maybe it was because you were sleeping in a new place? You had no idea, but whatever that thing was, you couldn’t quite shake it.
You could see a tiny bit of light peaking out from under the door. At least you knew that the others were probably in the other room. You got up out of bed and turned on the light. You glanced around before grabbing a hoodie that was lying on the ground. It was pretty big on you, but it would have to do for now.
You exited the room, though not before turning off the light behind you. You didn’t hear anyone in the other room, which was strange now that you thought about it. The hall led into the kitchen, and you could see a figure in the room. The rays immediately made you think of Sun, but before you called out, you caught yourself. The rays were a different color from Sun’s.
It was like the figure could sense you before it turned around. The two of you made eye contact, his eyes were a deep orange that seemed to lean into yellow or red depending on the angle.
This was a celestial bot if you weren’t mistaken. He was taller than both Sun and Moon, which you really didn’t think was possible, as both were already tall. His rays were yellow and red, and it was clear there were more of them than Sun had. His face plate was a deep red that probably looked black in dark enough lighting. His arms were a mix of that dark red and orange like his eyes. It looked very cool overall. He wore a black tank top that seemed to be slit down the sides where the arms were.
He wore a pair of dark gray sweatpants and socks. Once you got a better look, you could tell that he had been drinking a cup of coffee or maybe tea. There was a book sitting on the table, maybe he had been reading before you had walked into the room.
Whatever he was thinking he suddenly smiled.
“Now hello, darling.”

Sun wasn’t sure what had woken him up.
Sun wasn’t even much of a light sleeper, and after the events of the evening and early morning, he was sure that he would have slept through his alarm. What time was it even? He was facing towards the window and could see light seeping through on the edges of the curtains.
It was clearly still day, though it looked to be the late afternoon sun. He frowned, glancing around to see what had awakened him. Moon was sleeping with you curled in his arms. He tried pinning Moon to see if he was awake.
Nothing.
Alright, that meant his partner was still asleep. Hm. He listened and waited; there was a chance that you had woken up or moved in your sleep. There was nothing but your slow breathing.
What made Sun such a good vampire hunter wasn’t just his love for the game. He was also very good at noticing when they were there. So, when he felt like something was watching him, he looked.
If he had blood like a human, he was sure it would have run cold. There on the ceiling was one of these damned things. It was an ugly one, too, but what truly made him also launch at it was the fact that he was staring right at you.
The thing had its eyes set on you. Sun wasn’t sure if the thing had noticed that he was awake or if it just didn’t care. It had its target, and Sun needed to be very, very careful about how he was about to move. If he moved wrong- or worse, not quickly enough that thing could attack you.
Sun didn’t want to take that chance. So he waited, watching as it moved along the ceiling with its disgusting limbs.
He wondered if Eclipse was home. He could ping for him, trying to get some backup in here. The problem was that he didn’t want to wake you up.
For reasons outside of Sun’s comparison, the thing moved its way out of the bedroom and out into the apartment. Maybe the thing saw Sun and Moon and chose not risk it by attacking you. He would never understand the way they thought.
He waited for a long moment. He listened for the sound of it moving around the apartment, but heard nothing. This one was strange. It moved like it had a goal in mind.
Sun decided he needed to find it before it found somewhere to hide. He didn’t want to get attacked later in the night, or worse, the thing attacked you when you woke up. As quietly as he could possibly move, he exited the room.
While the curtains and blinds were drawn, there was still plenty of light that filtered into the space of his shared apartment. He stopped and looked around. Everything looked to be in the same place where it had been when he had gone to bed last night.
The couch was just as messy as it normally was. It was an old thing that Eclipse had found on the side of the road. Sun had tried convincing him that picking it up was a terrible idea, but neither he nor Moon listened to him. Thank the stars above that it had been the dead of winter, so no little creepy crawler could make a home in it. It was a miracle it didn’t have bed bugs. It was a sage green with a little bit of wear and tear on it.
The curtains that covered the front window were a royal blue that Moon had picked out to go with the couch. Sun still didn’t think it went well with the couch, but Eclipse thought it looked nice. What did Sun know? The carpet in the living room looked to be a nice cream color, but it had faded some over the years. Sun had no idea when they had even put the carpet in, probably before when they built the place.
There were a number of framed photos all over the walls and a couple of paintings that Sun and Chica had done. She had asked him to go to a wine and paint event, and who was Sun to decline? He was pretty happy with how they had come out while he hadn’t been in his right mind.
He wondered if you would like to go and do something like that in the future, while Moon and Eclipse had to work. It was rare that Sun didn’t work at the same time as his partners, but it did happen.
Then he heard it. It was subtle but there. The softest sound of movement came from the office. The room was right next to the bedroom. It had been an extra bedroom that Eclipse had converted into an office space and an extra bit of storage. Moon had closed the door there when they had gotten in the apartment, which was the room where the three of them also stored their extra weapons and gear. The last thing that they needed was for you to see it.
From the sounds of it that damned creature had made its way into the office. Sun frowned and slowly made his way to the room, making sure not to make a sound. Slowly, he listened for more movement as he reached towards the door handle.
However, before he could grab the handle, the door swung open, making Sun take a step back and brace for attack.
Instead, standing in front of him was Eclipse. Sun let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding.
Eclipse just raised an eyebrow at his lover. “There was a vampire in here.” Sun began in a hushed tone. He didn’t want to accidentally wake you up.
“I took care of it.” He said.
Sun opened his mouth, closed it, then finally was able to speak, “What? When I didn’t hear-”
Eclipse let out a snort. “You forget I’m the best for a reason.” He paused, “It didn’t attack the three of you?” There was an edge of concern in his voice. Sun felt himself relax, as much as Eclipse didn’t like to show it, he really did care.
“No, no. We were fine. I thought it might, but it ended up leaving the room.” Sun couldn’t help the nervous chuckle as he rubbed his arm. Oh, what could have happened if the thing had attacked them while they were asleep?
“Do you have any idea how it got in?” Eclipse asked, and Sun shook his head.
“Everything looked as it had when we went to bed, though… I wasn’t really paying attention.” He said with a slight blush on his cheeks.
Eclipse only let out a sigh. “Alright, I’ll take a look around and see if I can-” He began before the door to the bedroom opened, and the hint of glowing red shone through for just a moment before the door was fully opened, revealing Moon.
Moon was rubbing his eyes and looked tired.
“What’s happening?” He mumbled.
“There was a vampire in the apartment,” Eclipse said simply, getting straight to the point as always.
This seemed to wake up Moon almost instantly. “What?”
“It’s alright, I took care of it, but while both of you are up, I need both of you to go to the store and get a few things.”
Moon let out a groan. “No, it’s too early.” He half mumbled out.
“Mmm. Too bad.” Eclipse said, and Moon just gave him a glare before grabbing Sun’s arm and dragging him to the door.
“Rude,” Moon mumbled, and Sun couldn’t help the snort that came out.
“Alright, alright, but I will tell you about what had happened on the way to the store,” Sun said as he grabbed his wallet and keys.
Sun was blinded for a moment as he and Moon stepped out of their apartment. They would make the trip as fast as possible.
