Summary

Ch 3scripted voice speaks: "When you were sick as a kid, I used to sing to you. Will you sing for me now?"
The mannequin hesitates, then sits on the edge of the bed. She begins to sing, her voice tentative at first, then stronger. But it's Alice's voice I hear singing, nervous and sweet, as if she's performing just for me. Something inside me aches at the sound.
The scene progresses as it always does—the mannequin eventually lying beside me, my arms wrapping around her in comfort. But this time, she feels warmer, more solid. The blank face has hints of Alice's features—her slightly down turned nose, the soft curve of her cheek. It's uncanny and confusing, like chasing something I'll never catch.
Ch 5"So I've been thinking," she says after a while, her voice taking on a thoughtful quality that immediately draws my full attention. "If the idea I have about you hearing me is real... do you think there's any way you could use your Evol to get here?"
My breath catches in my throat. Her question hits too close to thoughts I've been having myself—desperate, impossible hopes I've tried to dismiss as fantasy.
“I mean, you make black holes," she continues, stepping back to examine her handiwork. "Some people think black holes aren't just space trash cans but actual bridges. Portals between places." Her hands gesture expressively as she speaks, the tape momentarily forgotten. "Like that Deepspace Tunnel in your world—from what I understand, it's basically a black hole they somehow figured out how to travel through without getting spaghettified. If they can do that there, maybe even travel between universes is possible. I know it's only a hypothesis but I can't help but wonder."
