Chapter Text
Morning came, and so did the pain of a headache, which was most likely due to the lack of sleep Ivan had.
To his surprise he saw Andrew next to him, just watching tv, turning to look at him when he saw Ivan sit up.
“Oh hey, you’re finally awake.” Ivan took a second to adjust to the morning light shining through the window.
“Yeah, uh morning.” Ivan yawned before speaking again. “So what’s gonna happen today? I mean, you don’t expect me to live here forever do you?”
He was right, Ivan knew that Andrew couldn’t support both of them with just the game, so either he had to move back or get a job too.
Andrew turned back to watch tv, “The game can support us for a while, I just wanna get you back on your feet. You aren’t well and I wouldn’t forgive myself if I let you go, especially now.”
Wouldn’t forgive himself? Why is he helping him so much anyways, he was sure that Andrew hated him after all the abuse he put him through, so why? Ivan knew he had to find out sooner or later.
“Why are you helping me so much?” He blurted out. Andrew looked a little shocked at the sudden question, letting out a low sigh.
“I.. I don’t know.. I just, felt like I had to? I think a part of me still cares about you, since you know, we used to be close friends.”
Ivan averted his gaze as soon as he heard the words “used to.” “You were never good with words, Andrew, look I’ll stop asking questions.” He said as he lay back down, staring at the dim lights above him.
He could feel Andrew glaring at him as he lay, he had no idea as to why, but Andrew always seemed to have a staring problem even back then.
“Ivan.”
“Yeah?”
“I saw them yesterday.”
“Saw what?”
“Your arms.”
And Just like that, Ivan wished the world would just swallow him whole right then and there, hoping to be forgotten by everyone. He didn’t respond, praying that would be enough of a sign for Andrew to drop it, but no, he just had to instigate.
“Ivan, don’t ignore me. I just want to know when and why.”
“I don’t have to tell you anything.” He snapped.
Andrew stood up, “You’re living in my house and i’m trying my best to help you, why are you making this so difficult?”
“Because.. because.. ugh, you should have never shown up, you should’ve just let me die.” Ivan immediately regretted saying that, because as soon as those words came out, he felt a harsh tug on his arm.
“Hey! The hell are you doing? Stop! Let me go!” Due to Ivan’s weak state, his efforts to be freed were in vain, that’s when he finally realized they were heading to the bathroom. He instantly felt sick.
Andrew locked the door behind them, ensuring that Ivan wouldn’t try to escape.
“Take off the jacket, you don’t want those to get infected, since they still look fresh.” He said disappointedly.
Ivan didn’t move. Who did he think he was? Just demanding him to show him his self inflicted injuries?
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be, I can always just put you in a hospital you know, then what would your mother think?”
She’s probably forgotten about him by now, he’d cut contact with her months ago. But, he hated those hospitals, so in the end he had no choice but to start unzipping his jacket.
“Just don’t take too long..”
“I won’t, who knew the nursing classes in school would come in handy?”
Ivan let out a small laugh at that statement. “You always skipped that class, I doubt you learned anything from there.”
Andrew looked up and put on a fake pained expression. “How dare you! I actually went once a week! Good enough to learn some things..”
“It’s a miracle you passed that class, I guess some coders get lucky.”
Andrew let out a sarcastic laugh, and by the time the conversation was over, so were the bandages.
“Oh, you.. actually did a decent job.” He smirked at Andrew, hoping to offend him with his sarcastic joke, obviously working.
“What do you take me for? Jeez!” He was pretending to be stabbed in the heart, which made them laugh for a few more minutes before finally standing up.
As they walked out of the bathroom, Andrew headed straight to his computer, leaving Ivan to decide if he should follow him or do his own thing. The choice was obvious, and today he was going to try something risky.
Walking into the room, his eyes landed on the bed. Without a second thought, he walked towards it and let himself fall onto it and close his eyes, Andrew was too occupied to even notice him, so it was a success.
He had no clue how long he’d been asleep for, it was around the afternoon when he’d fallen asleep on Andrews bed, through the windows, he could tell that the sun was starting to go down. Was he really that tired? He’d wasted the whole day sleeping!
All that time he could have been helping Andrew around the house but he just had to sleep. Speaking of, where was Andrew?
He wasn’t at his desk, and he couldn’t hear any noises coming from the other rooms, Ivan was stumped until he felt his arm hit something while stretching.
He could instantly feel his heart rate increase the more he turned, and what he saw could’ve been one of the top nerve wracking experiences he’s ever had in his life. Or best..
It was Andrew, his back was facing towards him, but judging by the pink sweater, it was him. Why didn’t he tell him to move? Or sleep somewhere else?
This was too much to think about right now, he wasn’t even sure he could fall back asleep after this, so he just lay back down and closed his eyes.
Maybe this was a dream, and he was just so desperate that he started to dream about Andrew?
Come on, he wasn’t that desperate, or was he?
“Just fall asleep please” He thought to himself, and sooner or later, he did. When he awoke, Andrew was no longer there, so was he was right? Was it just a dream?
He suddenly jumped when he heard the door open, and out came Andrew.
“Hey, you slept in my bed last night so I kinda just made room for myself, I wasn’t gonna tell you but I didn’t want you to get weirded out you know? Anyways I made breakfast so come eat.” After all that, he casually left as it it meant nothing to him.
Oh my god, first of all, it wasn’t a dream? Second, he actually admitted it himself? That’s never happened.. not even when they lived together in Ivan’s apartment.
He couldn’t help but feel his face get hot before shoving all those feelings away.
After breakfast, Andrew became quiet, it made Ivan nervous.
“Andrew, is something wrong?”
“No, i’m fine, actually I’ve been meaning to talk to you, about that night.”
Ah, he couldn’t have waited until later, could he?
