Being 18, freshly graduated, and relatively directionless while everyone else around you had big plans (or even just plans) for their lives made you feel stuck. Really stuck.
So, the best course of action, you figured, was to at least apply for the local Barnes & Noble. Just so you didn’t appear as lazy as you felt you came off.
You didn’t expect to actually get the job.
Watching Mikey walk in as a fellow new hire? You expected that even less.
