   Jon allowed himself a smile as he walked through the house, his cane tapping a familiar rhythm along the hardwood. Should he grab a coat? The spring weather was unpredictable. Stopping by the door, he reached up with one hand for a thin, dark green jacket. Waterproof enough to stop him looking like a rather disheveled cat if it did rain, light enough to not suffocate him in the warm sun.

   “Hey boss,” A horribly, painfully, agonisingly familiar voice sent him stumbling back into the wall, barely keeping his grasp on the cane.
