When he reached the reception, he found himself looking around a fairly empty room. There were a few call girls in the corner filling out forms, an older woman holding a dog, a kid that looked about twelve and a middle aged man who looked like he was ready to cry. He knew no one. Dick was about to turn around and head back to his desk when the on duty officer called out to him. Officer O’Conner was one of his fellow rookies, he had a thick accent. Dick thought he might be from Louisiana.
“Grayson! Why didn’t you say your brother was coming to see you?”

There was an odd commotion in the bullpen. Dick knew what it was. They were arresting Tom. IA was arresting him. Dick clasped his hands together in his lap to stop them from shaking. He had known what was going to happen. As soon as he made the report it he knew it was over.
Dick works to balance is life as Nightwing and Police Officer Grayson. It would be a lot easier if his Training Officers would stop committing crimes.

Clark lay on the sofa letting the sounds of Dick’s breath flood the room. Clark had spent years honing his skills. He used to lay awake at night listening to the farm, the way the horses brayed in the night, the way the wind made the walls creak and groan, the way his father snored every 73 breath. He was good at listening.
He was not good, however, at not worrying. Dick’s chest still rattled unnaturally and his pain was horribly audible. Clark hated it, he also hated he couldn’t stop listening. So he lay on the coach, his eyes wide open staring at the yellowing ceiling. He had known Dick for years, he had seen him sick before and hurt, but this felt so different. It was different because he wasn’t here.
Bruce was at home, and Dick was… Dick was in a crappy rundown part of Bludhaven. And Clark was laying on his couch.

She had organized four events each year for the foundation with little to no interference from Mr. Wayne in all that time. The only events she had ever had much interaction with any of the Wayne family was the annual fundraisers that Mr. Wayne’s children chose. This was the second year that Richard had not been present for the planning of his event.Alice could remember the steely look Mr. Wayne had given her when she had asked if it was still going ahead the first year he had been absent. She didn’t think she would ever forget the chill it had given her, almost as if a ghost went through her.
“I… Well if you’re sure.” Mr. Wayne looked anything but sure.

It's been months since Dick was shot on the job, and recovery isn't what he'd hoped. Perhaps now his only chance to get back what was stolen from him that day is to go back under and get the scars constricting his chest removed. If only that would also remove the scars a little deeper in his soul. It all feels overwhelming-surgery, the DA's request, and Bruce... Bruce invited him for Christmas.

Dick’s eyes snapped back to the lawyer as she continued “Forgive me for not taking your word. You have a track record of vendettas against your training officers and accusing them of misconduct, Mr. Grayson.”
“It’s Officer Grayson actually... I was shot twice by a man I trusted. He then walked over to me and took my duty belt, and camera. I couldn’t hit record for the backlog. I was lying in a pool of my own blood. I was left there to die.”
Bruce sucked in a breath from where he sat in the gallery. Dick hated that he was here, listening to this. It was almost shameful to have to air the gory details–blood trails, mistakes and all. But he had vowed. He would tell the whole truth, and nothing but.
Dick testifies after being shot on the job. Dick just wants it over with, how do you face the man you trusted after he put two rounds in your chest? But the only way out is through and the only way through is armed with the truth.
