There was nothing Vi could do. She couldn’t sit at the window forever, shutting out every thought that found its way into her miserable mind and pushing away the only person who seemed to care about it.
She knew this, yet she couldn’t get herself to change. She was stuck, her feet buried in thick muck that didn’t allow her to move, no matter how hard she tried. She fought against it, but her head just wouldn’t listen.
It was irrational. She still complied.
