Coriolanus Snow has a shameful secret. He’d slept with Sejanus Plinth that day at the lake, and afterwards, too.

Summary

A jabberjay. He froze when he saw it. It tilted its head slightly to the left in a very humanlike way, fixing its dark evil beady little eyes on him, and opened its beak.
“Mommy?” the beast asked him in a sing-song melody, and what sounded like at least a dozen hidden others took it up at once, each in a different, eerily harmonizing tone; Mommy? Mommy? Mommy?

Summary
Once, Coriolanus Snow had a chance to bury it all. The District, the man, and the child that had resulted from all of it, too. But in a moment of vulnerability, he decided to keep the young boy for himself, his last reminder of Sejanus Plinth and his one and only crippling weakness.
When his shameful past is threatened with exposure just before an important election, though, he must use the tactics that he’s grown to master if he wants to keep his secret under lock and key: manipulation, damage control, micro-management…and a bit of deadly poison.

He could always pretend that he didn’t know what she was talking about. It was a very vague suggestion, of course. Speculation was a skill for the stupid. He tilted his chin to the left slightly, ready to shake his head, when she interrupted him. “This is your only chance, Mr. Snow. Now I will ask again. Have you learned nothing from the effort that I put into your education? Did you do something you weren’t supposed to, little rabbit? Hop along and find another rabbit?”

Every year on his birthday, Antinous Snow goes to visit his mother in his rose garden. On his eighteenth birthday, though, he receives a very different sort of gift when he unexpectedly learns much more about his mysteriously dead father, a rebel named Sejanus Plinth, than he had ever bargained for. Now he must answer that age-old question, which every citizen of Panem must ask themselves at some point in their lives: is rebellion contagious?
And, importantly, he must use his brilliant mathematical mind to calculate an answer before his dangerously paranoid, obsessive mother finds out…and decides his answer for him.
