Summary
He knows banana bread won’t fix everything. It’s common sense. But, some part deep inside hopes that it’ll repair some part of the broken bridge they’re standing on opposite ends of.
As he slips the loaf into the oven, he strolls over to the coffee machine. As vividly as he remembers his own phone passcode, he remembers Bobby’s coffee order. Two sugars, a splash of milk and if he was in a good mood, a pinch of cinnamon. He often told Buck how it reminded him of the good times in life.
He hopes Bobby is in a good mood today.
---------------------
Or, after the lawsuit, Buck realises just how cold the firehouse has become.

“I would’ve been able to handle myself.” Izuku mumbles.
Katsuki scoffs again, striding towards him. “You would’ve been able to handle yourself?” he echoes. “You weren’t even taking care of yourself properly, and I’m supposed to believe you’d be able to handle yourself against dangerous, quirked convicts?”
Izuku hangs his head low. “That’s not fair.”
“It’s true, isn’t it?”

Or, Izuku becomes more afraid of his quirk after the Paranormal Liberation War. Bakugou shows him he doesn't have to be.

Summary
He tries breathing deeply through his nose and out his mouth, like Maddie had taught him when he was young.
He’s fine. Yet, his hands won’t stop shaking, and his breathing won’t slow down.
“You can be honest with me.” Ravi prompts.
Buck wants to brush it off, tell Ravi again and again, I’m fine. But, his voice cracks, and he blurts out in a rush, “I can’t keep going on like this.”
Ravi places a gentle hand on his shoulder. “Then don’t. Let me stay.”

Summary
Eddie’s reaching out towards him, palm facing the sky. His heart aches to envelop Eddie’s hand in his, whether to pull him beneath the firetruck towards him or to provide simple comfort, he isn’t sure. His heart just aches and aches, like a vice is physically squeezing his heart and making it hurt more.
He’s aware it’s a dumb idea. More than dumb, probably life-threatening, reckless, and extremely, idiotically risky.
But he does it anyway.

Summary
Shouto was never allowed to simply be a child; he was a project.
Every fiber of his being was planned meticulously. What school he’d go to as a high school student, whether he’d be homeschooled or actually attend a private middle school, how many hours of training he’d have to do on his quirk daily, if he was allowed to play with his siblings or not. If Enji could think of it, he’d have planned it.
Shouto’s choice in the matter was nonexistent.

Summary
Spencer presses harder, trying and trying and trying too hard to clot the blood flow. A sob builds up in his throat, dying on his lips as he lifts his head and shouts for a guard.
Delgado is losing more blood by the second. He keeps trying to talk, but instead of words, more of his bright blood escapes, trailing down his lips and dripping off his chin. Reid pants, searching around the room for something else to stop the flow. There’s more sheets, sure, but he needs something stronger, like heavy gauze.
He does the only thing he can think of, and shouts for more help that he knows won’t be coming.

Or, Reid struggles to sleep after prison.

Summary
With the breeze slithering through the cracks of the door, and the cold of the four stone-walled prison, the only warmth they have is each other.
Eri presses herself further into his side, trembling with both the cold and fear. Her bandages brush against his exposed arms as she does so, struggling to find stability and heat.
It’s then the veins beneath his skin begin to flare, glowing like molten threads in the caliginous cell. They pulse with each heartbeat, glow strengthening with every second that passes. It’s warm and cold at the same time, and it’s wrong.
Something’s wrong.
Something’s very, incredibly wrong.

Summary
Ben’s gaze lingers on Prentiss like some sort of twisted staring contest, but the gun never fully leaves Reid. His eyes flick between the two agents, weighing the risk of sacrifice against cold suspicion, innocence against guilt. Then, with a sudden jerk of his chin, he gestures towards the stairs, the same one Reid had watched girls disappear down with heads hung low. “He stays,” Ben states, voice lower than usual but certain.
Reid’s stomach drops. “What?” he finds himself asking aloud.
“The innocent must not suffer further with the guilty. God commands me to shield you, and so I must place you where no sin can touch you. You will be safe as long as you remain where I put you.” Ben explains, as simply and casually as if he were discussing the weather. “The innocent must be shielded from corruption. God commands me to protect the pure.”

Or, Minimal Loss goes a little differently, and Reid gets caught in the crossfire.

Summary
Aizawa rubs the alcohol wipe over his wound. “I’m not mad, kid.” he assures, throwing the wipe off to the side. “I’m worried. You’re still a child, a student. You shouldn’t feel obligated to stay out here and fight battles that aren’t yours.”
As he wraps the fresh bandage around the wound, Izuku protests. “Muscular was my battle. I fought him once, he should’ve stayed locked up and—”
“And that was All For One’s fault. Not yours.” Aizawa overlaps, finally looking up. “You should be relying on us to fight with you at least, not fighting alone on the streets. That’s what gets you killed.”

Summary
“You’re floating?” Eddie echoes. If he’s right, Buck might be upside down. In his car. After an accident.
Out of everything he’d imagined, the truth seems so much worse.
Buck giggles again. “Yeah, Eds, I’m floating.” he confirms, enunciating the word ‘floating’, as if he believed Eddie hadn’t heard him. “Everything’s tilted, like when I’d go on those rollercoasters and we’d stay in the air for a bit, upside down, waiting for it to drop. That was the…the best part, Eds. Maddie hated it, but I loved it.” Buck rambles, and all Eddie feels is fear.

Summary
Buck’s jaw clenches. He refuses to look away, even as Maddie’s fingernails dig into his arm. “You’re not going to touch her,” he says, voice low and steady, though his pulse hammers in his throat. “Not again.”
Doug leans in, the blade tracing a slow line along Buck’s exposed collarbone, intimate in its cruelty. “Oh, I’ll touch whoever I want. That’s the wonderful beauty of it.” Buck glares at him, hand fumbling for Maddie’s until he envelopes his in hers, squeezing her hand tight. Reassurance in the simplest form. “You beg, and she’ll suffer less. However, if you stay stubborn…” he presses the knife just enough to break the skin, a bead of red trickling from the cut, “she’ll watch you bleed.”

Summary
Gingerly, she places the spider lily down in front of the grave with care. Smoothing out the petals again, she stares at the headstone. It doesn’t make sense, and it’ll probably never make sense, but she doesn’t understand why Toga saved her. As self-depracating as it is, she isn’t someone worth saving.
“Why did you save me?” she asks again, reaching up with shaking pale fingers to trace around the engraved letters. It doesn’t feel quite real yet. It feels more like a nightmare she hasn’t woken up from, and she’s still searching for the exit.

Summary
He’s halfway up when his knee gives a warning twinge, threatening to give out already.
He pauses, breath catching, fingers tightening around the towels. He waits for it to pass. It doesn’t.
The next step he takes is a mistake.
His foot lands wrong. Just slightly, but it’s enough as the pain spikes white‑hot up his thigh. His leg buckles, collapsing in on itself like an unstable house of cards. The towels slip from his arms, fluttering uselessly down the stairs as Buck grabs for the railing.
He misses.

Summary
Taking quick strides, Izuku’s wide worried eyes scan the wound. “You’re not okay.” he concludes, staring at how pale and short-of-breath his teacher has become in a matter of moments.
Aizawa nods, panting. “You’re right.” he admits, gripping the trunk so hard Izuku worried it’d snap. “Midoriya, I need you to treat this. It’s not a complicated procedure, just a bit of simple first-aid.” He tilts his head up, meeting Izuku’s eye. His student is scared. He can see it in the way his hands tremble and he gnaws on his lip. Carefully, he reaches his other arm up, clasping Izuku’s shoulder firmly. “If we don’t deal with it now, I won’t be able to fight.”
“I don’t want to do this,” he whispers.
“I know.” Aizawa replies calmly with quiet certainty. “But you have to.”

“You are absolutely not fine,” Eddie snaps, already reaching for him. His hands close firmly around Buck’s forearms, cold water soaking into his own turnout sleeves as he hauls him upright. “You fell into a freezing creek, Buck.”

Summary
Shivers wreck his body again, and God, it is so cold. Too cold.
He wants to go to sleep.
Slumping against the cold brick wall and ignoring how his exposed skin—exposed only due to the numerous tears of his costume, his plans to stitch them back together long forgotten—scrapes against the concrete, he looks up at the sky. Stars hang like lanterns against the dark tapestry of the night, leading the lost back home. Maybe if he wished hard enough, the stars could lead him back to U.A.

“Buckaroo,” Athena begins, taking a proper look at Buck’s state. Whether it be the dark bags hanging beneath those void eyes, or the way he’s still favouring one leg, Buck can see the moment her worry switches up a notch. “Is anything else going on?”
He probably shouldn’t have, but he laughed. A bitter, yet guttural laugh, that comes from a place of exhaustion and the build-up of months spent battling the lawsuit and the after. “No, no, I am fine. Everything is fine.”
