“Fuck you,” Kevin mumbled, wondering why he even bothered asking, “I knew this was stupid.” He turned to leave but was stopped by a hand on his chest, fingers clumsily gripping his shirt.
“Wait, no, I meant if you want to do more, then just do it.” Aaron lightly pulled him back, away from the door, and Kevin followed, unsure of where this was going. “You’re literally going to be a millionaire, Kevin. Think about it, what are your favourite places to go?”

Summary
Unfortunately, ten days of isolation with nothing to distract him, allowed Aaron to brush aside Andrew’s warnings. The loneliness emboldened him to go outside, to go further beyond the meadow and into the forest. He’d been so sure that he could find his way back easily that by the time he admitted he was lost he did not even recognise the plants around him in comparison to the ones that grew by the cottage.
Following the river felt like a good idea. It would either guide him out of the darkening forest or towards civilisation. What he planned on doing after that, well he didn’t even get that far. Although he could not see or feel the sun beyond the thicket, the quickly encroaching nighttime made itself well known. It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t see the chasm in the ground, by then his eyes were so useless he was navigating with his ears.

Aaron should have listened to Andrew when his brother told him to just stay in the cottage.

Summary
When Tilda sells their house in San Jose and drags twelve-year-old Aaron across the country in a secondhand RV, Florida is supposed to mean beaches. Instead, he gets a landlocked trailer park outside Tallahassee, a starving summer, and a hidden garden behind an “abandoned” mobile home that is not abandoned at all.
This is a slow-burning coming-of-age story about hunger, bad parents, gardens, and the very weird, very stubborn friendship that forms between Aaron and Neil long before Andrew ever walks into their lives.

Listening is a snowy mountain, with avalanches coming down beside him. Change is inevitable, but change is a minefield. Aaron does not know where to step. Every movement leads to certain and unavoidable death.
And somehow, throughout all of it, he still lives while feeling dead. It is strange and captivating and all around terrifying.
