Jean’s breathing comes much harder than it should, even after practically carrying Kevin to Jeremy’s doorstep. His expression is torn, gaze flickering past Jeremy’s shoulder when Kevin whines a wordless protest.
Jean turns his face from them both. “I cannot stay. I—I must distract him before he realizes Kevin is missing.”
They’re the first words Jeremy’s ever heard him say. It’s good to know that the language barrier has been overstated.
Careful, projecting each movement, Jeremy catches Jean’s pinky finger once more, this time just with his index. “Look, I don’t know what happened but I’m really not comfortable letting you just leave.”
“Your comfort is not a factor.”

“You don’t have to be here for this,” Jeremy warns. “You can sit in the living room while I take care of him. It may take a few hours though, if you factor in knotting time.”
“I am deeply confused.”
“About what?”
Kevin stares. “You let Jean knot you?”
Jeremy frowns at him. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t I?”
“You’re an alpha.”
“So?”
“Isn’t it—Doesn’t that…feel weird?” Kevin stutters out. He stands near the door looking ready to bolt. Fiddling with his hands, he’s awkward in a way Jeremy hasn’t seen from him before.

“What is he doing?” Cat snickers.
Jeremy shrugs. “No idea. He gave me permission to stay. I left my phone on the counter. Could you text my mother and tell her I’m helping out with a cycle here? Just…don’t tell her whose.”
“Laila!” She yells down the hall. “I’m gonna lie to Jeremy’s mom and tell her y’all are fucking!”
“Cool!” Laila yells back.
Jean grumbles at that and licks around Jeremy’s belly button. Jeremy jolts, punching the floor. He’s distantly aware of Cat pulling her phone out to take a picture, but Jean is sucking marks into his stomach and it’s too distracting for him to call her on it.
A wet tongue slides under his waistband.
“Close the door right now I swear to God, Catalina—“ Jeremy snaps. Cat obliges, footsteps and cackles escaping down the hall. “Christ, Jean.”
