It is as if some small seam inside him has been unpicked and re-stitched. Memory is still there, heavy as ever, but it sits differently. It is not a single fresh wound so much as a scar-line that runs through every thought, healed enough that it no longer catches on every breath.
He takes a step, and his legs do not falter.
He rises with the careful calm of someone who has died once and discovered it did not end him. In him is the strange, listless steadiness of someone who has already fallen all the way through terror and found the ground on the other side.

Finrod Felagund was reembodied shortly after his death and is welcomed by his parents and Amarië. His joy is quickly dampened when fragments of memories of a mysterious woman start to haunt him. Amarië, sensing that Finrod has changed, is confronted with her love for him, and once it is revealed that his heart belongs to a stranger across the sea, she is determined to be by his side and be a pillar of strength.
It would be far easier if Finrod were not constantly worried about hurting her whenever this mysterious woman is brought up.

Declaring her love and accepting his in return, she encourages him to throw off the condemnation of his past and seek redemption. Their journey takes them from the wilds of Middle Earth to the homes of the Valar and back again, changing the course of Arda's history as Mairon attempts to heal himself and Middle Earth.

Summary
Year 800 of the Second Age. Maglor still wanders Middle-earth's shores, tormented by grief and the sea's cruel promises. Each attempt to end his suffering fails. The Sea always spits him back out, offering only fleeting moments of the Music of the Ainur.
During his latest attempt to end his life, he hears a familiar voice singing in the depths.
Meanwhile, in Valinor, Finrod, newly re-embodied, struggles with feeling like a stranger in his homeland, with guilt over past choices, the weight of being among the first to return from Beleriand, and the fear that he might have lost Amarië’s love.
After a disastrous breakfast with new and old family members, he finds himself at the haven of Alqualondë, where he pours his sorrow into a Song of Power, unaware that his song reaches his cousin for a few precious seconds.
