An AU for if Julia didn’t chase down Kamille on her birthday.
Julia decides to work her ass off so that she could score an A on the gymnastics exam and enlist in the Kalgratt Army, following her father’s footsteps. Her co-workers call her “Sergeant Stick-In-The-Mud” when she isn’t looking, but the higher-ups love her dedication to serve Kalgratt. She starts tallying up her personal count of Ah’kons detained and quickly builds up a respectable reputation. However, there’s two flaws in the path Julia has chosen.
One, she’s missing a critical part of her role. The one where she chooses a worthy husband, has children, and raises them to be respectable citizens of Kalgratt.
Two, she hasn’t seen her best friend since the day before her 22nd birthday. The day they went to the circus.
And by her 25th birthday, Julia is going to reach a deadline for when she needs to settle down and fulfill her duties. But unlike her whole childhood, she’s no longer determined to reach the time for when she’ll fulfill her life’s mission. She sees it as a timer for the day she’ll give up on finding Kamille.
Luckily for her, she’s just gotten transferred to Trempt.
