✽~✽ Canon-Divergent AU ✽~✽ When the price paid for freeing the Fae captives from Taft’s lab is Bo’s life, and with Hale trapped in an unsavory political situation as he tries to defuse the colony’s volatile state, Dyson does the only thing he can think of to protect the last thing he’s got left—he grabs Kenzi and runs. After hired guns sent by a vindictive Morrigan chase them beyond the colony’s borders, Dyson realizes that no matter where they go, so long as Kenzi’s still human, her life will always be in danger. Coming up with a plan to protect her for good, he only needs two things to make it happen … Kenzi’s agreement, and finding out where Lauren disappeared to before the Morrigan’s goons do.

What if Dyson had been there that night for reasons of his own (or rather the Light's own)? What if Bo hadn't quite made it to town just yet, but that creeper had still targeted Kenzi?
What if Dyson was the one to step in when she needed a knight in shining armor?
What if Kenzi met Bo under completely different circumstances that still brought the lost succubus to the attention of the Fae?

When her visit to check out her inheritance warrants attention from the self-contained community's top cop, Kenzi thinks they know about her unsavory past. Finding her just as a mysterious, albeit powerless [not to mention batshit insane] Fae attacks her, Dyson finally learns about Kenzi's accidental gift from the Norn. Trick, of course, has answers, even when they’re answers no one likes … say for instance that with Inari out of the picture before she could take back her powers (thanks, wolf-shifter temper!), Kenzi has two choices, either one will change her life forever.

✽~✽ Sort of AU, intercepting our characters somewhere just before the events of episode 3:12 (Hail, Hale). ✽~✽ With Lauren AWOL from the Light and Tamsin running off to who knows where, Dyson and Kenzi are left to investigate the murder of an innocent Fae, whose only crime appears to be that he was the last person to see Bo or Hale before they each dropped off the face of the earth, seemingly without a trace. Their sudden dependence on one another shouldn't be anything new—Dyson and Kenzi have made a startling habit of rescuing each other—but something has changed. Dyson doesn't know what nor how, he's just hoping he can figure it out before his wolf's new and troubling interest in Kenzi—an interest that involves tangled limbs, sweat dappled skin, and rushing breaths—gets the better of him.

✽~✽ Canon-Divergent AU ✽~✽ When Trick told Kenzi how to separate herself from The Staff of Righteousness, it felt like a no-brainer. Though determined to decline the awesome power and responsibility—and the mildly terrifying aspect of having to learn to do everything with one hand—something else came forth in that moment. Something that noticed there was meaning in what went unsaid. When she instead declares her acceptance, her grip on the Staff immediately loosens, but just as quickly Kenzi falls ill. Recognizing that she needs to be immersed in nature—at least while she's vulnerable as her powers develop—Trick does the only thing he can think of, charging Dyson with escorting Kenzi to the nearest forest and watching over her until her magic is fully manifested. It's not until Dyson is in the same room with her that Trick remembers why this probably wasn't his best idea ever. Kenzi has effectively become a nature goddess (in training), the sort of being that inspires awe, fealty, and other feelings in feral-born Fae.
Feral-born Fae, like ... wolf-shifters.
