“What are you thinking about?” Arthur asks.
“Dreaming,” Eames snaps. “What else would I be thinking about?” And then he sags. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have raised my voice.”
“That’s alright.” Arthur wets a washcloth and runs it over Eames’ bare arms. There is a fresh purple bruise on the inside of his right arm, where the IV drip to administer the somnacin would have gone. Doubtless the bruise is tender to the touch. Arthur avoids touching it, not wanting to cause Eames any more pain. “How long were you under?”
“A week.”
It’s a lie and the both of them know it. If it had only been a week, Eames would not have been so exhausted. If it had only been a week, Eames would not look so guilty.
Eames is addicted to dreaming.
