Summary
For the past five years, Virgil has been stuck in an orphanage with only bad memories and music to keep him company. There had been hope, at first, that if he smiled and behaved he’d find a loving family to call his own. But in the end that hope died, crushed under the truth his father had so often repeated- something in Virgil, hidden deep beneath the polite exterior, was rotten.
Simply put, Virgil was a bad omen. No matter who fostered him, their lives crumbled in Virgil’s presence. It started with small things- a leaking sink here, a cracked window there-, but it inevitably escalated until a broken marriage or a burning roof led them to return Virgil. After the eighth or ninth time, he stopped forcing a cheery attitude and accepted that he wasn’t worth the effort. Any effort. It would be best if everyone left him alone to melt into his corner and disappear.
But there was someone that wanted him, a couple that was almost as strange as he was. Despite his warnings, they took him in and gave him a warm home. And yet... can they really fix the broken mechanism of Virgil’s heart? And is this magical new world as wondrous as it seems, or are there monsters lurking in the shadows?

Virgil has lived a very very long time, he never wanted that, he wanted to settle down by the time he was 50, with whoever was destined for him in a small quaint cabin away from people and drift through time till they passed peacefully in their sleep. Now closer to 3000 than 30 he meets a couple planning a wedding for their partners.
TL;DR
Inspired by a Tumblr Miraculous Ladybug post I saw somewhere. A world where you stop ageing at 20, but will begin to grow old with your soulmate by your side and magic exists.

“You didn't” Virgil muttered in disbelief, staring at the man whom he loved so desperately, “Roman please, please tell me this isn’t what it looks like” he begged, ignoring the part of him screaming the blatantly obvious truth of the situation.
Roman frowned sadly, eyes glazed with tears “I’m sorry, my darling” he whispered “My parents ordered me to capture you, to imprison you; and I can’t disobey orders”.

Roman's been giving Virgil the silent treatment for three days and, to be honest, Virgil's a little tired of it. Ok, a lot tired of it. He's already sick, fighting with one of his best friends is an added strain his body doesn't need. Especially since the reason for their fight is so incredibly stupid.
If only he could get Roman to see that.

Summary
Virgil, Janus, Logan, Roman, Remus, and Patton might have shared a house, but they were all adults with their own responsibilities and schedules to keep up with. Still, they had to make *some* time to spend together and a weekly movie night with snacks and drinks and people he didn't *completely* hate was, in Virgil's opinion, as good of a distraction as any.
Especially since they had a rather unusual way of determining who got to pick the movie.

Virgil has no idea what he'll face in the Trials but he knows if he passes the test he'll be kidnapped by the mages and forced to become a student of magic in the Magisterium.
All his life Virgil has been warned to stay away from is magic, so he tries to do his worse. Unfortunately, apparently he's so much of a failure that he manages to fail at failing .
Now he must enter the Magisterium and maybe, just maybe, it's not as bad as his brother would have him believe.
At the very least the other kids in his apprentice group don't seem too bad...Loosely based on the Magisterium by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare (most of the "plot twists" are different.
