Big eyes. Begging eyes. Its hands held out meekly in front of it, like it was made to be eaten and the only questions were when and where and by whom. “The plant –”
“Prey doesn’t speak, Sam.”
Your mouth keeps going. “Why did it look like me? Why did the fruit look like me?”
She pauses for a fraction of a second. In another effortless motion she slings you onto the floor, straddling you. She tears off a strip of tape and smooths it over your mouth.
“Prey doesn’t speak.”

Sure, some folks aren't to be trusted, but more often than not, the benefit of the doubt forms long-term connections that can help himself and those around him remain grounded and sane in this time of crisis.
Too bad he's about to bump into someone who doesn't quite see things the same way.

Sam lives in a time where he can’t trust anyone or anything. His home is filled with strangers he’s too spineless to kick out, the outdoors are filled with ravenous monsters, and he’s constantly tired. If there’s one thing he needs, it is someone to confide in.
Good thing he has his best friend in the whole wide world, Phillippe! While no longer looking like a moth, he still does his best to care and listen to Sam. Which is perfect, as one night, Sam needs Phillippe to help him sleep.
Phillippe, on the other hand, has to choose between learning to like Sam, or just killing him. -

A lot of people would have looked at Sam in that moment and said: "Damn, man, that's a terrible choice." And sure, he was lounging naked on the couch of an inhuman monster that he caught secretly watching him sleep. But it probably wasn't a worse decision than letting a mouth in a wall eat his left arm. Or letting Dan crash on his floor. Or whatever the hell was going on with Roaches. If you did enough dumb bullshit, it wrapped back around into fine, probably. Also, this bad decision let him get laid, and here at the end of the world, sad and lonely and desperate, he could maybe look past some boundary issues if it meant he wouldn't die alone.

Or, the latter half of Sam's first day of the apocalypse.
