    It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.

    Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.

    It’s been nearly 27 years since Eva Stratt forced Ryland Grace to board the Hail Mary and sent him off to his death for the greater good of mankind. Meanwhile, Eva and the Project Hail Mary team have been fighting a losing battle against the cooling sun—and their own demons—trying to make sure there were still people to be saved by the time the crew could send a solution home. Right on schedule, the beetles are returning to Earth, hopefully with the answer to saving the world. But Eva has something else to worry about; there’s every possibility Ryland Grace’s last words would be coming home, and all the time in the world couldn’t make her ready to face the consequences of her actions, or what will happen when her colleagues find out what she did to their friend.

    Sole started tapping his fingers along to the song, a smile barely hidden as he peeked out from under his arm. Preston looked..peaceful. In his eyes, he looked like a god. Like the ones you would hear about in old folklore; the ones' who's beauty had no match. He had taken his hat off, the sun's rays casting a soft glow around him. As clouds lazily rolled overhead, the glow seemed to fade, but never completely disappear. He was looking out ahead of him, slightly bobbing his head to the song and humming along. He wore a weary smile as he turned his eyes to the sky, watching the clouds, seemingly lost in thought. He looked absolutely ethereal- but then again, to Sole, he always did. Preston could be doing the most mundane task and it would take his breath away.

    Sole was wholeheartedly in love, and that thought was one of the scariest things he'd ever come to realize.

    Sole and Preston take a small break while venturing the Commonwealth, and in a spur-of-the-moment decision, Sole asks Preston to dance with him. Neither of them really know how to properly dance, but that's the fun part of it. Sole just wanted an excuse to hold Preston close, to attempt to get him to smile and laugh, to ease his worries.
