“My skills in the bedroom are good, Lando, but they are not that good” he settles on saying. Lando turns back to the tree with a hum and says,
“I’ll tell Oscar, to print more posters” and Max thinks that is probably the most appropriate response he has ever heard from Lando.
Or, Max has only been dating his boyfriend for four months but is now about to lose him because he is an incompetent fool who can’t even do one simple thing. He spirals about it. Charles in another country spirals about Max not picking up the phone.

The Spaniard snorts, and somehow it still is flattering, and Charles may only be a little jealous of it. “You mean you didn’t?”
His silence seems to be answer enough, as he continues to avoid Carlos’ gaze.
“Do you think I love him?” Charles finally asks, afraid of the answer, but curious nonetheless.
“You mean you don’t?”

Charles’ breath hitches, an uncomfortable knot appearing suddenly in his throat. He didn’t see the celebrations, but he can picture them because they’re what he’d do, he thinks about it all the time, the way he’d be unable to stop smiling and how he’d probably cry and how his family would hold him and his team would sing for him—
“I know.”
Max’s face pulls down, and then the expression is gone.
“You’ve been spiralling about it for months,” Max says. His voice is oddly soft. “Every time we see each other, you are ranting about how unfair it is, that they don’t deserve that car. And now you have nothing to say?”
He hasn’t been spiralling. That’s ridiculous.
“It is what it is.”
