Summary
When Fingolfin felt time begin to weigh on him and a longing for life arise, he knew he was ready to leave the Halls of Mandos. Now he just had to find his way out.
But for that, first he had to speak with his family. Those with him in death, which was almost the full house of Finwë.
And Fingolfin is long overdue on a good old family reunion.

Bookmarker's Notes
That was quite remarkable. Congratulations! And I do like it that you made Fingolfin's return precipitate Miriel's. The idea that Thorondor arrived to save Fingolfin's spirit rather than his body is an excellent one.

Deep in the arid desert of the southlands of Harad, long beyond the known point where the Harad Road breaks and sinks into the sands—beyond the reach of any loremasters of the Elves of the west or the Men of Gondor, far from the Havens of Umbar near the sea—there lies a wide and vibrant oasis.
The Haradrim know better than to think it a wild place.

Maedhros' gaze landed on Elrond, keen and challenging. "We knew the Oath bound us to pursue our friends and our kin, if they held a Silmaril. Why include those words if we believed they would never be relevant?”
Elrond had no answer. But Elros replied, in a dry voice, “Poetic license?”

Celebrimbor had shoved all the furniture to one side, and so far had covered one-and-a-half sides of the room with chalk sketches and equations in the cramped tengwar he reverted to when drafting.
Annatar took it all in at a glance. “That is quite a contraption you are designing.”
OR: Celebrimbor invents a thing, Annatar helps, and both of them staunchly refuse to acknowledge it might be a metaphor for anything. Certainly not their relationship.

The Thranduilion features were there: fine boned, aristocratic, unmistakable, but they sat strangely on him, as if someone had taken a prince and taught him to live like a weapon, and now the weapon was being asked to smile nicely and call it reintegration.
Years after being stolen and dragged into Dol Guldur, Legolas has clawed his way back to a home that now feels like a foreign land. He doesn’t want a throne, he wants the South Watch and the anonymity of the barracks.
But they all remember the child that was lost, and the shadows of the South are long.

Summary
The Crossing of the Bridge is a ceremony that requires each new emperor or empress, on the first solstice of their reign, to walk the entire length of the bridge over the Istandaärtha from eastern to western shore, alone save for their nonecharei, carrying nothing but a brazier of incense. We can be relatively sure that this tradition traces its roots to the very creation of the Wisdom Bridge, and that the first emperor to enact it was Edrehasivar the Seventh.

Csethiro broke abruptly free of the pack and came sweeping towards him with hands outstretched, probably hoping to do damage control.
“Serenity,” she said, ignoring her father, who seemed to be wanting to prompt her like a conductor. “We are honoured to have you here.”
Maia had very little experience with the specific social mortifications of an embarrassing family— his own having simply chosen to forget he existed— and it wouldn’t have been fair to make a judgement, but there was already an undeniable tinge of the ridiculous to the entire affair.(Awkward dinners are part and parcel of the Emperor's role... but the Ceredada really are spectacularly embarrassing.)

Pull up your pants, everyone, we're here. We're doing this. We're in Beleriand, in the First Age, before the War of Wrath.
Tolkien wrote a masterful tragedy of doom and fate and striving against all hope, because hope still springs eternal even when it seems lost.
But, consider; what if doom can be overturned, and maybe those of the Noldor who fought so hard for so long against the most terrible of foes find something other than ruin and woe.Series

Verna breathed out. She could deal with some prophetic dreams, or with godly disappointment, or whatever... but she remembered that desolate, hopeless wailing, stretching long beyond the capacity of any living throat.
"Learned," she said. "Why me?"
He spread his hands. "Sera dy Marray, I'm not trying to make light of your burden. But why not you?"

Summary
"It was only later, Elrond's hands on the hidden casket and Faramir watching the way he didn’t let himself hesitate, that rhetoric drained out. That the thing stopped being a half-cocked mission and became simply what it was: two half-men in a stone room, in the middle of the night, trying to carry the remains of brightness out into a diminished world. For a moment neither of them moved. Then Elrond reached in and lifted the skull with an indecent tenderness that made Faramir need to look away. "
__________
After the coronation of Aragorn, Elrond asks Faramir for his help in retrieving a relic stored in the vaults of Minas Tirith: the bones of Elros Tar-Minyatur, the first king of Númenor, Elrond's beloved brother and technically speaking, Faramir's distant ancestor. In return, he receives a new, clearly unhelpful yet strangely compelling way to approach the hole Boromir left in his heart.Bookmarked by Anna_Wing
