Adam choked on a breath, hacking up a glowing mouthful of fluid. His vision greyed out as he gasped for air, wings flapping uselessly against the earth as his body twitched and seized. Only once the coughing fit started to pass could he finally see properly again, but this time there was a slight silhouette blocking his view of the sky above.

Delicious and riveting—from the political machinations and backstabbing, to the creep of steadfast devotion, to seeing the king at his full potential (both court scenes are just *mwah!* chef’s kiss! Love how Alastor and the true Lucifer actually feel like Al and Lucifer; it was the backbone of the narrative and made it possible for such a lovely story to be built on its bones. Looking forward the the queen finally eating that comeuppance (well-written character, stoked to see her suffer for her own actions). -

Really delves into worldbuilding of how old Lucifer actually is, and I especially like how that ties into his inability to remember names or specific turns of phrase. Would love more of this tangible weight of history imbued into the characters.
