“Asahi!” Nishinoya called over his shoulder excitedly, his feet pounding the wooden planks of the pier beneath them. “C’mon!” His wide steps more than made up for his short height, and Asahi was unsurprised to find that - as was typical - he was the one struggling to keep up with his partner.
Asahi’s gait was a little more nerve-tinged than usual today. Instinctively his hand flew to the small satchel he carried with him, a brief wave of anxiety seizing him when he didn’t immediately feel the box.

Heavy cream. High-quality chocolate bars. (He’d known that there was a definite difference in types of chocolate bars - American chocolate tasted distinctly different than Belgian chocolate, or so he’d been told - but he hadn’t realized how many options were available. God, he hoped that he’d picked the right one, or at least a right one.) For how few ingredients he actually had before him, their overwhelming presence seemed to taunt him.
All this for some grand overture that he wasn’t even sure would be accepted.

He’s only a few miles into Pennsylvania when he finally sees signs of life among all of the cornfields. Kageyama squints at the young man in acid-washed jeans and bright orange hair standing along the side of the dusty road. His sunny smile is just as eye-catching as his hair; he sticks his thumb out eagerly when he sees the car approaching. Hitchhiking, then. His loose crop top is obscured by the sign he holds and Kageyama finds himself slowing down to read the slightly sloppy printing.

Welcome to the West City Public Library, where everyone in Technical Services is trying to kill each other, a scary looking man named after an instrument runs the children's department, and interoffice betting pools are set up over who's going to ask who out first. Throw in a martial arts instructor and his son, the daughter of a well-known pro-wrestler, an elite office assistant, and a local author with multiple personalities, and one thing is for sure: a trip to WCPL is never boring.
