What, indeed, does it mean that Hades and the Deathless Prince Zagreus do not share a name? Is a shared titular line sufficient to bind a family together? A kinder storyteller might offer a kinder answer.
But these are not the questions that the Lord of Hades has turned his overlabored mind to this eve.
Hades, God of the Dead: “Well, I’m certainly thinking about them now.”
No; instead, he contemplates the matter of the dread son’s dreaded escape. For reasons unmentionable—
Hades, God of Death: “Oh, so this time, you have a sense of restraint?”
—he must endeavor at all costs to prevent this.
Or: An AU where killing Hades still isn’t enough.

Summary
When Thanatos admitted to Zagreus it had been over ten years since he had used his wings to physically fly, truth spoken out loud ignited a desire to remedy this.
While preening them would no doubt unearth trauma related to the incident which had lead to their neglect, Thanatos was determined to see it through, if nothing else to finally vanquish the last of the physical evidence he still carried bodily. Then, it could all be laid to rest, once and for all.
And besides, Zagreus would be right there to help him with the task.
“Fine. I will show you how to preen my wings. And after several weeks of tedious and meticulous brushing and oiling and plucking and dusting... then I will take you into my arms and we can take flight together.”---
As Than shows Zag how to preen his wings, he struggles with PTSD related to the Sisyphus incident. Or, as my friend Sarah N put it, “This is going to be a case of ‘himbos make everything better’, isn’t it?”

He feels the woman's abdominal muscles tense as she takes a massive breath in and screams. Reality seems to split, the air thick with static, as the unnatural scream continues for several seconds, until her voice breaks.
Or... Melinoë rescues Zagreus from Chronos' clutches and Zagreus undertakes a rescue of his own.

Summary
All Zagreus, son of Lightning and Seasons, has ever known were the lavish feasts, overbearing mothers and the heavy hand of his father's orders. Sure, he has black hair unlike the rest of his family, and his grassy green eyes may be a little too sensitive to the light of Helios, but that never made anybody, not even himself suspicious of who he might actually come from.
As the youngest Prince of Olympus, he takes it upon himself to attempt to fix his dysfunctional family, he is frequently indulged and welcomed as one of the few honest souls on the great mountain. Unfortunately, such attention brings quite the terrifying deathless Chthonic Gods to look at what nobody else could see in him.

Echoing from down the hall, there is the rumble of ominous chanting again. Astarion thought, when the sound first assailed his ears an hour before dawn this morning, that it was the sound of some horribly tacky wizard attempting to summon a monster from the great beyond. It turned out instead to be Ulder Ravengard, Grand Duke of Baldur's Gate, attempting to sing.
Festively.
During a holiday visit to Baldur's Gate, Wyll and Astarion wake up to discover Ulder Ravengard has been struck with some kind of Festive Madness. Somehow, this is now Astarion's problem.
