"What's going on?" Robby mumbled.
"You don't remember?"
Robby shook his head.
Jack flicked on a lamp, its low warm light illuminating their bedroom. Jack only looked a little better under the warmer lighting.
"Do you know what year it is, honey?"
Robby frowned.
"It's 2020." Robby mumbled.
"Yeah, it is, honey; good."
"What happened? Why?" Robby groaned, nodding lazily at the monitor and IV pole erected at his bedside.
"You worked for three straight weeks, and it got the better of you. It took longer than it should have, to be honest. I wanted to take care of you at home, get you out of there for a while, honey. It's been a few days. You're okay."
There was more to it than that; it was written all over Jack's face, painted in the bruise-like bags under his eyes, and etched in the dryness of his skin hanging a little looser than Robby thought it should.

It's 2020. Jack and Robby struggle to cope in the aftermath of the death of a dear mentor and friend.
