“That feel nice, kitten?”
And, oh.
Ed releases a soft exhale, breath fanning out across Stede’s chest. He should be used to it by now, the feeling of relief at the end of the slow road to discovery that he hadn’t even realised he’d been heading towards. But when he finds it, or rather, when it finds him, the dormant shape of it unfurls in his chest and settles right there, like that’s where it’s always belonged, a perfect fit to mould the gooeyness of his heart around.
And that name, god.
Kitten.
Yeah, he thinks that might just be the one.
Or: Stede is cycling through different pet names to call Ed. Eventually, he lands on Kitten.
