Prompt: “Oh, look, it’s snowing!”
"Uh oh… the snow isn’t stopping…”This story follows Charlie Spring on a night that doesn’t go at all as planned. While babysitting his eight-year-old brother, Oliver, Charlie is expecting cartoons and calm—until the boy he's been tutoring (who is also his very inconvenient crush), Nick Nelson, shows up needing last-minute help for a test.
What starts as a quick study session turns into an unexpected sleepover when the light snowfall outside becomes a full blizzard. With their parents stuck in town and the roads closed, Oliver is ecstatic, Charlie is flustered, and Nick seems strangely unbothered about being snowed in.
As the night unfolds—blanket forts, hot chocolate, shared jokes, and quiet, lingering moments—Charlie realizes the tension humming between them isn’t just in his head. The snow keeps falling, things keep spiraling, and the line between friendship and something more grows thinner in the warm glow of a winter storm.

"I promise you," Nick says, "literally the only thing getting me through this last term is knowing I finally get to be with you properly once it's over."
There's a note of desperation in his voice, and Charlie thinks about Nick's unplanned visit last weekend, the anxiety that seemed to pull him taut at unexpected moments, the underlying tension he couldn't quite put words to. Maybe it really is just Nick's mounting stress as his graduation approaches: a big, scary, looming Life Event that he's struggling to wrap his head around, and the extraneous stress is just spilling out all over them both.
Charlie hates the niggling doubt in the dark recesses of his brain that whispers, but what if it's something else? What if the problem is you?
University!fic. In which they're so close to not being long distance anymore, but something's clearly bothering Nick, and Charlie would really appreciate it if he would just talk to him about it already.

Charlie’s slow breaths ruffle through his chest hair gently. It’s nice. The quiet’s nice, too. Nick lets it start to lull him, lets his eyes slip closed and his body go heavy, one arm slung around Charlie’s waist, keeping him snug to his side, Charlie’s light touch tracing up and down his opposite arm gently.
A few minutes later Charlie shifts. “Y’know,” he says, his voice offhanded and sleep-heavy and sweet, his fingertips tracing tiny, errant loops through the hair low on Nick’s stomach, now, “You kind of need to work on your stamina, hon.”
Or: Charlie teases. Nick decides not to let it lie.
