It's a remarkable fluke that Earth has managed: sending one scientist into space on one-way trip only to discover him back in the solar system after three decades, and sending an entirely different astronaut for a circuit up to Mars and back just for disaster to strike and he's left stranded alone on the planet. Wilder still that the timelines align, and both space-farers end up on the same ship back home.

Project Hail Mary x The Martian crossover because the parallels go crazy and I needed to think thoughts that were not just spiraling about PHM so I rewatched The Martian and roped my other favourite scifi main character into it too. Featuring the dumbest fic title I have ever come up with. -

Summary
When Clint Barton gets snatched off the street, taken to an unknown secondary location, and kept tied up so he can spill his guts about the Avengers' secrets and then die painfully, it's pretty par for the course. There's a certain level of stupid, unavoidable risk that comes with making yourself present for every other city-collapsing threat with a bow and arrow. It's never convenient, but it is standard.
What isn't, however, is the dangerous tag-along he picks up on the way back home and the suspicious things happening when he gets there.

Summary

He's aware that the life of this attraction mostly involves ogling Spidey from a platonic distance and making obnoxious come-ons that get brushed off.

Ryland looked down at his clipboard, where he had written a reasonable script, supplied earlier that day by Adrian. Unfortunately, the moment his eyes landed on the words, his brain supplied only terrible ways to say them.
He chose the worst one.
“I need flowers with prominent reproductive structures.”
The man went completely still.
Ryland could feel his soul attempting to leave his body.
“For a plant anatomy lab,” he added quickly. “For my students. Middle school students. Not–” He cut himself off, because there was simply no end to that sentence that would improve his situation. Instead, he just weakly smiled, and added “Science.”

Summary
One minute, Ryland Grace’s rent and utilities go skyward. The next, the price of his meds decides to follow suit. Then, he finds a scruffy brown tabby cat (covered in paint) down on its luck and his heart wins him over, taking the cat in and trying to find it a shelter.
With the extra bills and a new cat to try to take care of and eventually re-home, Grace decides he needs some extra cash.
He needs to get a roommate.

Grace screamed when he carelessly put his hands in his pockets and it came out bloody, liquid seeping under his nails.
"What is happening?! Where does this blood comes from?!" he shrieked in a high-pitched voice.
Or: Grace has a soulmate. The question is: why are they sending him more and more gruesome things? He doesn't need blood?! And why did a piece of torn cloth appear in the Mary all of the sudden!! Was this a cry of help or a warning his soulmate was about to kill him? Hello, mixed signals here???
