Summary
Uncle Ben's death and the spider bite occured within the span of a few months for poor Peter. That, his gender identity struggles, and Aunt May struggling to put food on the table sent him off the rails, leading him to theft, stalking, and breaking and entering to help May pay the bills. Although he tried to justify it by only targeting criminals, that excuse didn't hold up in court.
He's been given a second chance: in lieu of completing his prison sentence, he can instead join an experimental "phoenix program" which aims to rehabilitate criminals.

Summary
Peter has had a week. He got fired from his job at the Buggle, Shocker escaped prison and he's behind on rent. So when he sees an ad for working at the Magnus Institute he immediately applies and surprisingly gets the job. Unfortunately, the Institute is super suspicious and he has to work with a boss who's never there, a man who doesn't know what he's doing, a woman whose curiosity will get her killed, and a man who treats Peter as a child.
At least it's better than working at the Buggle.

Summary
We all know the old joke: a rogue SecUnit walks into a bar. The bartender, a rogue ComfortUnit in hiding who's been having one hell of a day, takes one look at it and has a bad idea.
