    It all started when a Dowager Queen called a common healer to Harrenhal.

    “You are young for a healer,” The queen didn’t look back at him as she spoke.

    “I am eight and ten,” Fin offered.

    She scoffed. “My daughter is eight and ten. Do you think yourself a man then?”

    Fin faltered as he ducked through a servant’s door into another tiny hallway. “Uh- yes, my queen. I am not a child anymore.”

    “How many people have you healed?” She demanded.

    “I’m not sure,” Fin admitted. “I haven’t been counting. But more than a thousand.”

    The Dowager Queen stopped.

    Fin had tried to be a Healer in this new world. It hadn’t ended well the first time. He didn’t know why he had answered the strange Queen’s summons, but he hadn’t intended to get close to her- much less the patient she had called him to heal, a young Maegor Towers.

    The witch bends down, keys clinking together like wind chimes on his belt. His hands run over the chains, his lips silently moving as his fingers move like water. Instantly, Elena feels what little strength she had left melt out of her.

    “I get it: I’m the doppelganger,” Elena spits out between gritted teeth, slumping against the wall behind because she doesn’t have the energy to hold herself up anymore because of that fucking witch, “But, I’m a vampire now. I’m useless. You can’t use me in any rituals anymore, nor can anyone else. So can you please just let me go?”

    The witch snorts, shaking his head like he’s talking to a child. Elena wants to gouge his eyes out.

    “I can’t. Not with what you’ve got cooking inside of you.”

    “What?” Elena snaps, wishing she could lean forward and channel some Katherine Pierce to get this witch to fold like paper and get the answers she wants, “What’s inside me? My innate magic ?”

    The witch’s lips twist in amusement. “Well, yes, but also, no.”

    “Just tell me! What harm can I do? You’ve got me chained up and obviously weakened!”

    The witch meets her stare dead-on. “You’re pregnant.”

    The night Stefan had nearly driven Elena off Wickery, had sent her into a mental spiral. She ended up questioning herself and the people around her. She wondered if the plan to kill Klaus was really worth it, especially since her now ex-boyfriend had just tried to kill just to get back at said hybrid. She also knew that her friends would defend Stefan on what he did, they wouldn’t feel sorry for her.

    So, was it worth it?

    The answer was no. No, it wasn’t worth it, so instead she had walked away from the crime scene and ended up wandering somewhere she didn’t belong. More like with someone she didn’t belong. Klaus.
