Summary
He takes a deep breath, lifts his head, and locks eyes with the demon that was about to take him to hell. Thunder cracks overhead.
Stiles smiles slightly as he says, "I don't know if you've heard, but Beacon Hills is protected."
The demon, its pale skin glowing slightly, says in a low voice that sounds more like a croak than anything, "Oh yeah? By who?" It nods to the ground where Scott and Derek's bodies are.
Still smiling, Stiles raises his bat, gripping it tightly, "Me."
Lightning flashes.
Then Stiles runs at the demon.

Summary
"I want to be alone, Jack," Robby said, short and sharp and pissy.
Fucking great. Apparently in the 45 minutes since Jack had last seen him, Robby had gone from devastation to anger. This would be fun.
"It's nice to want things," he drawled, deliberately light. "I wanted to walk out of Iraq on my own two feet, but hey. No plan survives contact with the enemy and all that."
Robby turned then, looking at him over the top of the couch, face drawn, eyes dark in the low lights. "Yeah? You my enemy?"

Summary
“What the hell happened?”
“What happened, Michael,” Jack answers, hard, as if Robby can’t see the broken-open expression on his face, “is you got yourself hit by about five thousand pounds of steel and dropped out on me—”
“Shit,” Robby curses. “Jack— I’m sorry. You okay?”
Jack laughs without much humor in it. “Are you— Are you kidding me? Seriously? Your heart stopped on my table, you’re asking if I’m fucking okay?”
“Yeah, I am,” Robby says, because if it’d been Jack without a pulse on his table, he knows he would not be anywhere near okay.

Summary
An unexpected break-up means Robby ends up going to Pittfest with Jake after all. He asks Abbot to cover half his shift, and Abbot is happy to agree—surely half a day shift can't be nearly as chaotic as the usual night shift. Everything that happens later changes his perspective on plenty of things, from just how crazy the day shift can get, to where exactly he wants to stand with Robby.

Summary
“It doesn’t make any sense, you— you don’t like me like that.”
Langdon laughs, thinking that this is just cruel to him, and Mel looks confused by it.
“Mel, this is a little unfair,” He sighs. “Who wouldn’t like you?”
or, where Langdon and Mel are just too blind to understand each other.

Summary
It's just — every time he walks in, a skip to his step like he's still surprised he's allowed to be here — all she can see is his new key-chain jiggling against his keys, a gift he'd shown to anyone willing to look; Tanner made it himself, Abby let him give it to me for my sobriety anniversary. No, he doesn't know that's why, he's five. Isn't it great?
And it is, she'd thought — said — absently. He fought so hard to keep his relationship to his children, to his now ex-wife, even as he went through the motions of rehab and recovery and constant HR meetings and random piss tests everyone conspicuously pretended weren't happening. He'd fought so hard, of course it's great.
Or it would be, Mel thinks, ducking away with lukewarm coffee in hand, if she didn't know the image of that key-chain like the palm of her hand.
Or, rather, like the soulmark on the back of her knee.
[or: soulmateism made literal]
