Perry believed the whole nemesis fiasco had been put to rest.
Really, he should have known better than to believe that. Nothing in Perry’s life had been simple -- he shouldn't have expected this to be any different. In his defense however, he didn't think Professor Mystery would go through the trouble of actually kidnapping him and forcing him to foil the evil scientist.
