Summary
When Thoma arrived in Inazuma for the first time, it wasn't the Kamisatos who found him. Instead, he was kidnapped and lived a hellish life for what seemed like forever. Through struggles and suffering, there wasn't much hope left for him. That was until a certain Lord Kamisato invaded the camp and discovered a slave. Thoma was finally free! At what cost? Well, he was now engaged to the head of the Kamisato clan, Yashiro Commissioner, and leader of the Shuumatsuban!?

“When we marry,” Ayato says, matter-of-factly in all the conviction of an eighteen-year-old that’s seen none of the world and how it works. “Would you want to return to Mondstadt?”
“Excuse me?”
Thoma stops, mid-sweep as he stares back at Ayato, who has his palms on either side of his face. He’s looking out his open window, where he’s been blessed by the view of Thoma in his short-sleeved black shirt, sweeping the back of the estate.
“I’m asking you as a matter of practicality.”

"It’s gorgeous!" She nodded sincerely before pulling Thoma into a hug. "I had no idea! Why didn’t you tell me!?"
“It’s a bit recent…”
“I’m so happy for you!”
Ayato watched the exchange with bewilderment. In all the years Ayato had known Thoma, the man had never once bragged or shown off material possessions. And he understood it was a lavish piece of jewellery, but wasn't her reaction a bit too much?

In Mondstadt, married couples wear rings to show their love and commitment to each other. Ayato does not know this, and is concerned.
